Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

The accommodation is a container house. It is a very compact inn. Limited to one group per day. One building is the living room. The other building has a bedroom and a toilet. The bed is a bunk bed. Up to 2 people can sleep in the bunk beds. Because it is compact, it is not suitable for large people or people with physical disabilities. In order to provide cheap accommodation, we also use reused furniture, so there is some dirt. Please understand. The large lawn garden also has playground equipment such as a trampoline and swing for children, so families and young couples can have fun. You can also play in the garden after check-out. The location is excellent, with Takatsubashi bus stop right in front of the building. You can take a bus from the inn to Hongu Taisha Shrine, Kawayu Onsen, Yunomine Onsen, and Shingu Station. There is no bath, but there is a shower room. If you want to take a bath, you can also go to the nearby Kawayu Onsen. The basic plan is room only without meals. * Meals such as curry rice and beef rice bowls are available for a separate fee.　 * Pick-up and drop-off (1,000 yen per trip in Hongu-cho) and luggage shipping are also available for an additional fee.

This is a private rental inn in an old private house renovated by the children of the free school "Kuma Nobi" with crowdfunding. By staying here, you will be supporting the free school. Please relax in an environment surrounded by nature. It is located 10 minutes by car from Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, and we can pick you up and drop you off. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Meals are not included, but a set of homemade bread is included for breakfast.

"Genki House", a house near Kumano Hongu-Taisha

It’s a house 8km from the Hongu Taisha. (about 15 minutes' drive) If you have a car it's more convenient, but if not I'll be happy to drive you to and from a bus stop or a tourism spot in Hongu area. My family run an organic farm, bakery, NPO offering long-stay for the youth, and an alternative school for children nearby. You'll have some loaves of bread from our bakery(^^)/ （If you don't eat bread please let me know beforehand)

The whole house rental Kumanoyasai BASE.

The accommodation is in Chikatsuyu near Kumano-Kodo. 5min by walk from Chikatsuyu-oji. You can feel nature from the accommodation's window. Also you can see a lot of stars when you sit on the wood deck in night, and see the sun set in evening. There is a supermarket 5min by foot. It's closed 6 pm. I have my coffee shop near the accommodation. You come and enjoy to drink espresso.

This is a 10-minute walk to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine. You can enjoy a relaxing experience in this old house with a veranda. There are famous hot spring resorts nearby, such as Kawayu Onsen, where you can relieve the fatigue of your travels. There are also supermarkets, restaurants, and parking within walking distance.

"MINE-no-Yado" Mine own house is a small Japanese style cottage in Mine village where includes Takijiri-oji, the entrance to the sacred mountains of Kumano. The house is at an elevation of 300m. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Kumano mountains, a wonderful starry night and even sea of clouds.
