Holiday rentals with a kayak in Chippewa County

Great spot, clean, and easy check-in. Beds/pillows in all of the rooms were super comfortable memory foam. Ice fishing was slow (likely due to the weather…single digits and high wind), but time spent in the cottage with family was great.

Lisa was a very responsive host. We had everything we needed for a family of 4 with 4 separate bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a mudroom with laundry. We easily could have had twice as many guests and still felt comfortable. The best part about this place is the privacy, seclusion, and beach along Lake Michigan just steps away. The views of lake Michigan were incredible and 3 of the 4 bedrooms and living room all had amazing window views of the lake especially waking up in the morning. While the weather was a little cool during our stay, we still enjoyed hanging out on the beach and had a latenight campfire. We are already planning another trip back during warmer summer months. We also enjoyed fishing at nearby Brevort Lake and caught a ton of perch and even some smallmouth bass and walleye. We also made a day trip to Mackinac Island and the ferry in St. Ignace was only a short 20 minute drive away. This spot was perfect for our Memorial Day long weekend family getaway.

My wife Linda and I stayed at Fisherman's Paradise/Freighter Watch September 4-22, 2024. We were there mainly to do fishing in the St. Mary's River and Lake Huron. With on site launch, boat hoist/dock, and fish cleaning it is by far the best rental property we have found in the area. We have stayed on Sugar, Nebbish, and Drummond Island and none of places we have stayed could compare. The area is peaceful and quiet, there is ample wildlife in and around the area, we saw eagles, mink, beaver, and many other bird species. A couple nights around the full moon we heard several coyotes howling. As other reviewers have noted the freighter watching gets to be obsessive(we even saw several cruise ships during our stay). We would recommend that you get on the Boatnerd website. This website has information on all the ships that are seeing. We found the house to be comfortable. The kitchen has pretty much everything that you may need for your meal preparation. Tara and Rob are great host.

The place is in a super cool bay. Great atmosphere and layout. Would recommend!

Very nice location, easy access to lake as well. Nice and relaxing with lots of wild life. Outside was a bit messy but overall great experience.

My wife and I booked this rental for a 30th Wedding Anniversary getaway and to see the fall colors. This is a great house in a great location. It is very well stocked with everything one would need. Our favorite part of the house was the breezeway with the table where we would eat and had a great view of Whitefish Bay while doing so. There was even a pair of binoculars there to see the freighters out in the bay. We made several day trips during the week visiting many State Parks and looked forward to returning to grill our supper. We had an issue related to a storm that came through early in our stay. After contacting Brooke, she made arrangements to get a repair made and it happened promptly. Brooke kept in contact with us to make sure everything was fixed. She is a great host of this wonderful property. We had a delightful time during our stay and hated to leave when the week was done. We highly recommend this great property that has a great host. If you enjoy a peaceful place by the lake away from all the traffic this is a great place. 5-10 minutes from St. Ignace and Mackinaw City.

Our stay at this Airbnb was the best we’ve ever had! The photos were an exact match, perfectly capturing the spacious, inviting home. Check-in was a breeze with a flawless lockbox and clear directions—Google Maps led us right to the door. The cleanliness was impeccable. I have pretty high standards of what clean means, and was blown away by the spotless floors, pristine bathrooms and kitchen. The host’s detailed binder found on the counter for us upon arrival was a gem, with clear instructions for any questions you may have about appliances, the house, etc. The lake was stunning, and though we didn’t use the kayak, we will definitely come back to take advantage of the lake. The neighborhood felt incredibly safe, perfect for walks. Just 30 minutes from St. Ignace/Shepler’s Ferry to Mackinac Island, the location was ideal. The house was roomy enough for our family trip, ensuring everyone had space to relax. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much, Sarah!

This was a wonderful place overall! The plentiful firewood and kindling was a major plus. The whole unit was very clean and well stocked with cleaning supplies, coffee, and basic cooking items (oils, salt, pepper). There was plenty of eatingware, cookingware, and towels. The only issue we had was non-functioning wifi and fridge, but this was resolved after several hours, and the host kindly compensated for the items that spoiled. The host was very professional and responsive, so we would love to stay at one of their properties again! Although on the pricey side, the privacy was well worth it. Ferry ports to Mackinac island are also just ~17 minutes away, so the location was excellent for what we needed.

Our family loved spending our vacation here. The house was clean and comfy. The sunroom was a great place to hang out when not on the beach. Great, easy access to the beach with rocks nearby to collect. Convenient to other locations like the falls and Soo locks. Loved seeing the freighters from sunroom and beach. Information was appreciated about local sites and stores. We will be back for another summer vacation!!

Beautiful, peaceful and very homey! We will be booking future stays during our annual Drummond Island trip.

Located in Melody Beach Cottages, this place is worth the price when you watch sunrise on the first morning with your cup of coffee overlooking Lake Huron. The cottage is well designed and cozy, with a deck and walk out beach access. The check in and check out instructions are very clear. Overall, this was a 5-star experience, and we will be booking again on our next trip up north!

A phenomenal get away! A truely memorable experience. Already planning our next visit!

If you are looking for a relaxing place to unplug and relax with great views this is a great spot. It’s remote, but there is a little store for trinkets and items you may have forgotten. Right on the water for fun on the water and views. Cabins are rustic but comfortable. No WiFi and we needed to use Canadian cellular towers, so you will be unplugged…and that’s kinda the point. Definitely plan to come back.

Peaceful area. Great to be right on the river. Wonderful to be able to sit out, and/or grill out, on the front lawn or porch, and watch the big ships. Picnic tables and furniture are provided. Cabins are rustic and cozy. Bedding is provided, and in our opinion, the beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with pots/dishes/silverware. Gas stove. Full size fridge. Good water pressure. Bring your own towels/shampoos, and bath soaps.

We stayed at Pond #8 which was a short drive from the main resort. We didn’t use any of the resort amenities because we enjoyed our cabin so much! The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s the perfect wilderness getaway. The staff at check in/out were very friendly. We will definitely be coming back and staying longer.

Shari and Jeff are fantastic hosts. They were friendly, informative, and always available. The Sweet Retreat is a wonderful place for an escape to relax and refocus. Take the ferry from the mainland and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the rustic peace.
