As Singapore's oldest women's organisation, the YWCA has a rich heritage of helping and nurturing women in our community. From helping women become more self-reliant to archiving recipes that nourish the home and heart, YWCA has over 140 years of connecting with the community through food and good works.
I'm a social worker at YWCA for 5 years involved in the development of cooking classes as a social enterprise project from an innovative pilot to a viable alternative for mums to provide for their families. I can share my knowledge of the social service sector in Singapore and its "hidden" poverty. Debra, our co-host, is a YWCA staff as well. Our host mum, Isti, is certified for food safety and hygiene and has years of experience cooking daily for her family of 6, for large festive family gatherings and started a home catering business
