What you'll do

This magical two-hour experience will take you on a journey through some of the basics of glass blowing as well as the role it has in our Portland community. Over pastries and wine you will begin your Experience by discovering some of the history of glass blowing both globally and, more specifically, here in the Pacific Northwest. Then, we will enter the studio where the magic happens! After going over safety and proper equipment use you will get a brief glass blowing demonstration by myself. Next you get to play! I will instruct and guide you to help create a piece of glass art that you can return home with.* *Item available next day or can be shipped at no cost to you.

Learn more about James

James

My 20+ years of experience blowing glass throughout the United States coupled with my wife Lorraine’s drive for all things Pacific Northwest, make for not only a fascinating marriage but an opportunity for others to learn about both of our worlds. It is nothing new to find either of us rambling on about our love for the area and the art of glassblowing. Now we have combined the two in an Experience we would love to share with you. “To watch something as hard and fragile as glass become malleable, shape it into something only you envision, and then have it return to that same hard, fragile state, is pure magic. From the first time I saw that process I knew that’s what I wanted to do 24/7.”
