What you'll do

Seasonal rains are here, so there is water flowing through the river and you can enjoy the trail in its maximum splendor with small waterfalls and natural water pools along the way. Only during the rainy season (July-September).

We will learn about the local history and culture of Amatlán de Quetzalcoatl as we sightsee around town, before we proceed to the exuberant nature of its mountains that provide deep peace and tranquility.
To recharge energy and get to know each other, we will have a rich and nutritious local breakfast, which is included in the experience, taking the corresponding hygiene measures and recommendations to avoid the spread of COVID-19. I will present the hiking route that we will follow and clarify any doubts or concerns that attendees may have.
After breakfast, we will hike through the mountain while I tell you some local stories, myths and legends to make the journey enjoyable and fun, you will have time to take spectacular photographs from several observation points. We will walk calmly and carefully so that everyone enjoy the hike.
At the end of our excursion, we will return to downtown and I will give you suggestions on activities to do and places to go on your own.
Things to note: Be ready to walk, learn about local history and nature, and have a lot of fun.

I was born and raised in Torreon but after getting my Bachelor's degree, I moved to Morelos and I fell in love with its mountains, hills, rivers, food, and culture. As a former boy scout leader, I am eager to share this knowledge and experience with you. After I got my Master's degree in the UK, I returned to Morelos and I've been practicing hiking and trekking for more than 5 years. I enjoy discovering new paths to explore and exchanging safe routes with other enthusiasts. I can share a bit of Mexico and Morelos history with you, and recommend several little-known, must-see places in town or neaby: archaeological sites, water resorts, botanical gardens, parks... There is something to cater everyone's taste!
I hope you like visiting places, learning about other people's cultures, and protecting nature as much as I do!

Where you'll be

We will appreciate the flora and fauna of the place; we will observe the creek with its small waterfalls and natural water pools (during the rainy season); we will admire a small suspension bridge, several caves, the ancient amate trees, and the huge monolithic stones that have remained leaning against each other for centuries; we will have beautiful views of the valley and the hills that surround Amatlán and Tepoztlán.
