About your host

Perhaps one of the biggest advocates in regards to the beauty of New Mexico that you will ever meet, I am a very passionate, experienced, and knowledgeable individual who loves sharing these unique parts of the state with those who may not have known about them otherwise. Originally I started by taking friends out to new places but I have since become entwined with the New Mexico Mountain Club and…

What we’ll do

We'll meet at 8:00 AM and arrive at the trailhead at approximately 8:15. From here we'll start hiking on trails toward our canyon, some of these trails are in good condition, some more vague. Once we drop into the canyon, we'll be walking on beautiful, tilted, water-carved slabs of granite for much of the rest of the hike. What I’ll provide

Snacks
Fresh fruit, energy bars, nuts, jerky, and water.

What to bring

Sturdy hiking shoes, or at least shoes with good traction.

Where you'll be

We'll be visiting a rugged canyon on the west side of the Sandia Mountains. This is a beautifully carved granite canyon with high walls on both sides, and angled slabs along the floor. At times of the year, a stream flows through the canyon, providing a serene white noise along the hike. When this stream flows, there are multiple small waterfalls along the route as well! Spectacular views of the city reward us on our hike back.
