What you'll do

We will make the complete traditional Uyghur Lagman (noodle) dish from
scratch. Just like my mother and grandmother taught me :)

I will teach you how to make and prepare the dough, which we will use to
make three kinds of Uyghur pasta. Starting with the most famous one,
hand-pulled noodles. We will have lots of fun making the noodles dance,
as this is what it is called to hand pull the noodle. I will walk you through
every step of the wrapping and pulling technique.

The Uyghur cuisine is obscure in the west, so if you want to surprise and
impress your dinner guests,  I'll say ''Just check my calendar, choose your
date, and book it!'' I'm looking forward to seeing you.

Once you booked the experience, I'll send you a message with all the live
streaming info and the full ingredients. (PS: Are you a vegetarian?
No Worries! Meat is optional in this recipe.)

Hi,
My name is Aliya, I’m Uyghur.
From a young age, I watched my grandmother, aunts, and mother cook
every day, bubbling and laughing, enjoying making home-made foods for the family.
They are so passionate and proud about cooking and being able to make hand-made foods to share.

Studying, living, and working abroad for the last decade, not seeing my family
I realized that cooking my cultural dishes connected me to them. It kept
family and culture alive in my heart. That's when I decided to start my
Uyghur food channel on YouTube called "DolanChick".

When I launched my first video, I felt that was the most right decision I had ever made.
After a while, I started teaching curious friends and colleagues how to make hand-pulled noodles. We had so much joy cooking together
that I thought it might be a fun workshop. And here we are!

This noodle making workshop was so wonderful. I knew from Aliya's page that it would be a well-presented and well lead workshop, but she still totally blew me away. Aliya lead everyone through the instructions, always checking in with us to make sure we understood, and provided constant helpful feedback. She did an awesome job of making us excited to rise to the challenge of learning something new while also always emphasizing that the goal was to learn and have fun, and if things went wrong, we shouldn't worry. After all of that, the recipe itself was unbelievably delicious! I would recommend this experience to everyone.

This experience was really unique. I had never made hand pulled noodles before and was uncertain if I could pull it off but Aliya was very patient and explained it to me, so that the noodles came out really nice. She also made sure that I learned lots of interesting things about her culture along the way. Greatly recommended.
