What you'll do

Meet and greet everyone. Head out together to a nearby trailhead. Hike some distance down a trail, and then turn off into the an area without trails. We'll find a magical spot to build our elf houses, and begin collecting materials. We'll cooperate as a group to design and build a few little elf houses that some tiny beings would surely enjoy. Share some tea and snacks in the forest with your new friends. We'll take a few photos before we hike out and return to our cars.

Learn more about Scott

Scott

Nature is my inspiration and my passion is creating art and architecture with natural materials. I started teaching natural building/art in 2002, with my company Earthen Hand Natural Building. Since then, I have promoted nature-based art and shelter through speaking, consulting, and teaching workshops every year since 2002. I've had the opportunity to teach in many places around the world. I've helped hundreds of students learn, and guided many owner-builders through the process of creating a natural home or artistic creation. I'm also an avid hiker and naturalist, with many years of experience exploring Oregon and Washington's forests, mountains, and rivers. I enjoy getting creative with natural materials and the fun people this art attracts. Check out some of my past work at EarthenHand.com.

Where you'll be

The Columbia River Gorge offers innumerable hikes and areas to explore. Our group will meet first at the Portland Women's Forum, and decide which trail to pick for the day. We'll hike out on an established trail, and then head out into the bush to discover an area no one in the group has yet seen!
