I’m an Airbnb host who hasn’t signed up for Open Homes. What is an Open Homes booking request?
Airbnb's Open Homes program
Airbnb’s Open Homes program helps nonprofit organizations offer a temporary place to stay to people like families traveling for medical treatment, refugees joining a new community, or those impacted by nearby disasters.
Open Homes stays are always free for the guests. Some hosts choose to host Open Homes stays for free by signing up with the Open Homes community. If you haven't signed up to host guests free of charge on Open Homes, you'll still receive your usual payment for your listing when you have an Open Homes booking. Airbnb waives all service fees for these reservations.
What do I need to know about hosting an Open Homes guest?
Here’s some helpful info about hosting with the Open Homes program:
It's the same Airbnb booking experience
You can message with your guest, choose to accept or decline a reservation, and you’re protected by the Airbnb Host Guarantee. You have access to Airbnb’s 24/7 customer service.
You have additional support
You can always connect with our Open Homes support team with questions or concerns. If a nonprofit organization books a stay on behalf of an Open Homes guest, a case manager from the nonprofit may be able to answer questions and provide you with helpful resources.
Messaging = hospitality
Your Open Homes guests want the same amenities you offer any Airbnb guest, like fresh sheets and clean spaces where they can rest. hey may have additional questions about parking, accessibility, or even favorite nearby shops for food and essentials. Use the message thread to ask questions and learn more about your guest before their arrival.
