How do I add a security deposit to my listing?

You’ll need to log in to your account on a desktop computer or using a browser (not the Airbnb app) to manage security deposits for your listing.

To add or edit a security deposit:

1. Go to Your listings and select a listing
2. Click Pricing at the top of the page
3. Next to Extra charges, click Edit
4. Under Security deposit, enter an amount between $100 (£77) and $5,000 USD (£3,842)
5. Click Save

The security deposit doesn’t retroactively apply to existing reservations. It will only be included on reservations booked after you added it to the listing price.

Security deposits must be handled through Airbnb. They can't be handled in cash or through any other off-site payment method, as this is a violation of our terms.

For some reservations, Airbnb may independently require a security deposit. In these cases, you won’t be able to edit or remove the required deposit.
