Solar-powered MatopHouse is a very carefully considered sanctuary. It's enveloped by a garden frequented by birds, hares, a mongoose and duikers, and has views of the distant Karkloof hills. The house is full of character (and books), and is a tranquil space in which to read, write, cook, create – and to simply "be".
