We had a truly beautiful experience at Meihodo, a cultural gem tucked away in the serene landscape of Aso. The Airbnb was the perfect blend of traditional Japanese design and modern comfort — clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully curated for a relaxing stay. What truly stood out was the exceptional hospitality from our host, Daishi. He went above and beyond to make our visit smooth and memorable — personally driving us to local restaurants and arranging taxis to Takachiho Gorge and Mount Aso when we ran into issues with our car rental. His kindness and attentiveness made us feel genuinely cared for. A few tips: having a rental car is highly recommended in this area for flexibility. Also, make dinner reservations in advance, as many local restaurants close early. And if you’d like to try the resort’s breakfast, be sure to let them know in advance — we missed out but were kindly dropped off at nearby restaurants instead. Highly recommend Meihodo for a serene and culturally rich getaway.

The place and the location are both fantastic. It is extremely good value for money compared with our other accommodation in Kyushu. The onsen is great. Beds are comfy. Place is warm. View is spectacular. Close to kurokawa onsen town. Close to ski fields. Easy access from beppu (with winter tyres) For access: In winter you need winter tyres to get to Kurosawa onsen. And the property is a bit higher up. we had heavy snowfall, so chains would be preferable for the driveway (but we parked 5min walk away and walked up instead). The highway to get to kurokawa onsen was closed unless you have winter tyres or chains. So it is necessary

Very nice sea view just in front of the house. But you have to drive there and prepare foods in advance before getting there. Anyway, i would love to stay again if travelling to Amakusa!

The most impressive place I've ever stayed in is a place where I can stay with my dog.I felt that if the check-in and check-out time was longer, I could take it a little more slowly. Thanks for your hospitality.

Shinta’s home is clean, cozy and well-equipped. There are three bedrooms upstairs and the toilet and bathroom are downstairs. Aircon was strong and there were plenty of towels for the whole family. Pillows were a bit soft, but everything else was great. Comfy sofa and a big dining table which was very helpful for my family of 5. The kitchen had enough plates and cutlery and the kids loved the Nintendo Switch, Disney Channel and outdoor swing. Shinta was very friendly and responsive. The large parking space made it easy to load and unload. Aeon Mall nearby made shopping convenient for us. It’s a bit far from the city, but if you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable stay, this place is great. We had a lovely 3night stay.

The word "luxurious and rich" was the perfect space.From the moment you step into the entrance, you feel like you're in a movie scene.The staff were also polite and friendly, and handled smoothly from check-in. The rooms are spacious and the decor is well designed.I felt the attention to furniture, lighting, and amenities, and I enjoyed the extraordinary luxury atmosphere.The large windows offer stunning views, beautiful sunrise in the morning and the starry sky at night. There was also a kitchen and BBQ grill, so it was nice to enjoy cooking with local ingredients and have a relaxing time.There were no complaints about the facilities, and there was wifi, a washing machine, a bathtub, etc. It was out of season this time, but I was forced to use the pool.Thank you for your willingness to respond. The children were also delighted. It was really satisfying to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and spend a luxurious and quiet time.It was a wonderful stay that I would love to come back again for a special occasion.

This is a very decent house, sufficient enough for my family (6 members aged between 4 to 70). The place is very clean and tidy. The host is friendly and kind. The instructions provided were clear and easy to follow. We think the location of the house is very convenient, probably because we drive. It takes reasonable time to travel to Kumamoto city or to Aso district, just in the middle of both. A large shopping mall is near, about 10 mins drive, very convenient! The house has everything you need. Towels, shampoo, body soap and even skin care products are present in the house. This is a real bonus for those who prefer light luggage and not to carry too many things when travelling. Cooking utensils are well equipped and even seasonings. We make delicious meals during our stay. I highly recommend this premise to visitors who are going to travel to Kumamoto in a group of 4-7.

Little bit hard to find the way in at night . But the staff is very helpful ,and the house is perfect.

The way to go is strict, larger cars need to be careful⚠️ However, the location was good and I enjoyed it very much with my family of 5!!

We found our stay to be wonderful! The large tub, sauna, outdoor patio with fire pit and bbq was spectacular. The kids explored in the woods and the kitchen provided everything you need for cooking. No spices, oil or wine opener so bring those items with you :-) it was a 12 minute drive from skiing and there are hiking trails outside the front door. It’s a gorgeous rental 🤍 we will return!
