Barn holiday rentals in Maine

We rented The Cape for my husband and I, plus our adult children and their families. This is a very home-like rental, surrounded by beautiful grounds and right on the river. It was exactly what we expected for an 1880’s east-coast home; it reminded me of my grandmother’s property. Melissa is a very enthusiastic and caring host. This is the perfect rental if you are looking for a charming old home with lots of character, privacy, nature, and active outdoor options.

You know it’s a lovely space when we come multiple years to stay! Amy is the nicest- a fantastic host with great recommendations for the area. The apartment is clean and spacious and full of rustic charm. Our kids adored the ducks they have on the property and the yard is wonderfully inviting! Can’t wait to come back next year 😃

This is a great place to stay if you want a slice of life in the picturesque village of South Freeport, Maine. It's a very private location, and convenient for taking walks down to the water and around the village. The Airbnb itself is comfortable, quiet, and well appointed.

Lynne’s place was very well appointed, it had everything needed to cook a variety of things, ranging from pasta to lobsters, and had things available for needs that arise (for example, I forgot a razor, they had an ice pack for icing an injury and we needed a couple of AA batteries). It was clean, had a very comfortable bed and was very quiet. Location was excellent for us and just a 8-10 min drive to coffee shops/restaurants in Rockport (which were worth the drive!). So close to beautiful Camden, and also Bar Harbor.

Paul welcomed us into the South end barn and showed us where to hike in Acadia. The place looks like the pictures. Jane left a gift basket for us with Starbucks coffee, peanut butter, jelly, snacks, granola and more (juice, beers, yogurt etc.) in the fridge 😀 2 full baths were convenient for our family of five. There was a common laundry room in the yard but we didn't use it because it was raining or dark when we're home (we're mostly hiking around). Recommend for people visiting the Acadia National Park!

We really enjoyed our stay at Penny’s house! The barn is absolutely beautiful. Please be aware that this is not a private home, even though it’s listed as such. Penny is clear in the description that she lives on the ground floor, and the kitchen and living room are shared spaces. That being said, if that’s what you’re expecting, this is a charming stay and a great base point for exploring the area. Our dog had an absolute blast playing in the yard and we deeply appreciated Penny’s hospitality.

Alan is very welcoming and helpful. The lights and electronics are all very efficient and eco-friendly. And what an amazing bonus, to have top-class music fifty steps from our door! Gorgeous views of Cadillac Mountain, all lovely. Acadia is an hour away, Blue Hill Peninsula has lots going on, and Bucksport and Deer Isle are a short drive away. We will visit again. Karen was terrific, always responding quickly to our questions. The setting and house were beautiful with all the comforts of home. The house was conveniently located for a variety of destinations in DownEast Maine.

The overall stay was really good and Robert was an amazing and super accommodating host! The house was really beautiful and had all the needed amenities to make the trip enjoyable and memorable. Specially all the recommendations he had provided us for the different things to do around the area.

Emily’s place was a great stay just outside of Portland. Downtown was a short drive away but we still felt secluded and enjoyed our privacy. Emily was great with communication and recommendations for our stay. The space was perfect for two people and the exterior porch and yard were very well kept.

Clean, spacious and safe home within walking distance (10min) to the pier. Great spot for a weekend getaway with the family or friends. Host was responsive and friendly. They labeled items throughout the home so we knew exactly where to find everything we needed. Definitely would stay again!

We were in Palmyra to attend a family wedding, and we were so pleased to have such a beautiful home where we could spend the weekend and visit with family. We loved having access to the resort amenities, and several of us took advantage of the many options. We were so impressed that the photos matched the home. I want to commend you for having quality linens and towels, and extra amenities in the bathrooms. The kitchen was fully equipped, and we enjoyed making several meals there. I would highly recommend this property, and hope in the future to rent the space again for family gatherings.

Best spot in the area hands down. Stay here if you can! Newell and Carol remind me of my mom and dad.

This place was medicine for me ! So much more than described and the pictures don’t begin to tell the story of the peace, beauty, salt of the earth feeling of this gem. The apple orchard outside your door is magic in itself (with a lot of hard work reflected )…. The rental space is lovely; spacious , peaceful , comfortable in every way and , well, pure charm! There’s a serene view out every window . Emily and Brien were wonderful hosts , responsive and accommodating in every way . These are people you just want to know ! Hope is the name of the town and that says it all for me . This whole area is a sanctuary with the bustle of gorgeous Camden (and much more) in easy reach, but staying here is an opportunity for personal growth and reflection in an amazing space. It exudes light and love and prompts an inward journey. Whatever you may be healing from , take HOPE right here . I will look forward to returning to ALL , this wonderful place has to offer .

Heidi is an excellent host! She is welcoming, responsive and proactive. Her home is as beautiful as promised in the listing. The space is carefully curated with comfortable furnishings, a well stocked kitchen, a cozy fireplace and lovely artwork done by the host herself. We would definitely stay again!

What a gorgeous spot! Tucked in the back, the remodeled barn was very well built, spacious and cozy. Even better than the pictures could show. Gardens were in full bloom with gentle rolling river down below, so peaceful ! Hosts were down to earth and very helpful. Would definitely go back!!

Great large space! Jaime was very communicative and accommodating, offering early check in and late check out. Kitchen was nicely stocked, great for cooking for large groups.

Overall, an amazing stay at David and Caroline’s! The clear instructions helped us arrive easily and the amenities (kitchen, bathrooms, fire pit) helped us have a perfect stay. Really appreciated their flexibility and responsiveness. We visited in June, so be aware of the heavy mosquitoes. But everything the hosts could control, they did to a T

It was a great location to explore both Acadia National Park and Camden. Easy to get to grocery stores to get supplies to make breakfast in the fully appointed kitchen. Starting my day with a cup of coffee overlooking the beautiful meadow was just what I needed to begin a vacation day off right.

The barn is a really special place on a really amazing island. There are so many hidden gem areas on this island. It’s a true place to get away, explore and have some time in a secluded place, but still close to some amazing things. I was at the barn for 4 nights. Went to Acadia and bar harbor one day and hunkered down the other 2 as it was raining. The places to explore on the island are beautiful, even in the rain and allowed me to have some time away from reality. Highly recommend staying in the cranberry isles…especially at Judi/Chong’s place.

Beautiful and authentic! A great place for large families or 2 families. Lots of dishes, pots, pans, everything you could need. Decent amount of staples, spices and condiments, spare shampoo, soap, hair dryer. Toys for the kids even. Quiet and peaceful, the walk down to the beach runs through a lovely wildflower field, though mind the last 30 yards is down a steep incline tough for kids. Definitely worth it, if you hit high tide at dusk we were met with over a hundred horseshoe crabs at the shore, magical. Eric is great, this is our 4th summer in Maine this has been by far our favorite house we've stayed. Nestled in the mid coast it makes everywhere you want to go under an hour, save Acadia which is just under 2. Less than 10 minutes from stores and restaurants but a million miles from anything when your sitting on the back porch.

All the previous reviews indicated we would love this location, the setting, the caring of the host....we were inspired to join Airbnb to just be able to stay here!!! The beauty of the surroundings is remarkable and we admire the care taken to keep it in its refined natural state. We are so thankful we took the description and reviews to heart! We now have another great Maine memory!

Our stay at Kate’s home exceeded expectations. The house was impeccably clean, comfortable, and inviting. The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking, just bring your own condiments and spices. The property featured a large, serene yard and picturesque waterfront, ideal for outdoor enjoyment with amenities like a fire pit, kayaks, chairs, and grill. Inside, there was ample space for larger groups or families with kids. The bathrooms were spotless, linens fresh, and everything in great working order. Kate’s informative house guide made settling in and exploring the area effortless. Located a short drive from a charming village with a coffee shop, market, and supermarket, the home also offers proximity to Maine’s top lobster pounds and coastal towns. Whether for a couple, group of friends, or family, I highly recommend Kate’s home for its cleanliness, amenities, and welcoming atmosphere.

really great stay! my wife and I spent 4 nights and had zero complaints. Some highlights for us: - GORGEOUS views all around through the many windows - highly functional kitchen. The dishwasher and Nespresso were easy to use - lots of lakes and hiking spots in the area. - Norway soft serve has delicious ice cream and is close by - saw a few deer, lots of birds and chipmunks - the area is walkable with slight elevation throughout the property - accessibility: lots of stairs to both the loft and up to the tower. The tower is not very accessible due to the narrow, spiral stairs. - support from the mattress + couch is TOP TIER. really great quality to lay on after long drives. - lots of board games and puzzles to choose from - the host was responsive and flexible. They even offered a 20% discount for any extra days we would like to book. Cannot wait to book our next getaway!!!
