This fully renovated traditional house is located in Minamiozen, Kagoshima Prefecture, the southernmost town on the mainland. When you enter the room, you will see the view of the Kinkouwan Bay spreading out across the window and Mt. Satsuma, also known as Kaihodo, on the opposite shore, and you will exclaim, "Wow!" and you'll be captivated by the blue sea. The view can be seen not only from the living room, but also from the open bathroom. You can move directly from the room to the spacious wooden deck with a BBQ stove and sink, via the deck terrace that extends from the living room. You can enjoy a relaxing private time while listening to the sound of the waves without worrying about people watching. Nearby, you can drive to Ohama Gold Beach, Sata Cape and Yukawa Falls, and Nishiharadai Panorama Park. The abundant nature along the way is also comforting. In the evening, the sunset from the living room, bathroom, and wooden deck is truly spectacular. And the starry sky after the sun sets is breathtaking. The room also has free WiFi and a projector that displays on the white wall. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, and seasonings, so you can bring your own ingredients and cook. Ayako was a great host, very responsive and helpful. Her two girls were very adorable and loveable. We had delicious breakfast and dinner. cooked by her mum. Her mum was very friendly too and some of the food was grown in her garden. We enjoyed our stay very mum and would recommend friends to visit her. We would give her a super-star rating.

We had a fantastic stay here, the house is really cosy and comfortable, and the view is absolutely fantastic! I couldn't believe how beautiful it was, both at night and in the morning. We had breakfast on the wooden terrace, while admiring Sakurajima, and it was amazing. The hosts are incredibly friendly and kind, and made sure to welcome us and explain everything when we arrived, and then say goodbye when we checked out. They even gifted us some beautiful handmade coasters! We were thrilled with our stay, and hope we can stay here again in the future. Thank you again so much for everything!

Friendly traditional hostel, even if a little rustic! We enjoyed our stay and were well helped by our host, especially regarding the booking of our ferry to Yakushima. The recommendations given were also useful, the recommended ramen restaurant next door is absolutely delicious and the onsen opposite is a very affordable experience to do :)

Shoji's place is exceptional. It's a beautiful, roomy house and it had all the amenities we needed. Shoji was very helpful, picking us up from the train station, giving us a detailed tour of the house, and coming over on short notice to fix an issue we were having with one of the appliances.
