Private Kumano House – For Couples & Long Stays

Experience life in a quiet traditional Japanese home in a local residential neighborhood. The house is a little away from the city center in a peaceful hillside area, best suited for guests who enjoy slow travel and local atmosphere rather than convenience. Free bicycles are available for exploring the area, and many guests use the house as a relaxing base for visiting Kumano Kodo, Nachi Falls, and the surrounding coast. Workspace, kitchen, and dryer are included for comfortable longer stays.

Our house is called Kamikura-Hideaway. It is a small 50-year-old house located at the foot of Kamikura Shrine. Contemporary artist Fulbrn revived it as the art piece "Narrative Space." Since this house once served as a geologist's hideaway, bits of history are scattered throughout the building. Our uniqueness has even been featured in the travel media AFAR, reflecting our commitment to a memorable guest experience. We hope you will enjoy touching someone's story "floating" around the room.

Operated by Kii Tourism, it offers ways to enjoy Kumano’s nature, history, culture, and daily life. Ideal for families, groups, and long‑term stays. -3‑bedroom home with bath, kitchen, fast Wi‑Fi, parking. -Walk: 10 min to Yokogaki Pass, 37 min to Fuden Pass. -Drive:15 min to the nearest convenience store, 22 min to Yunokuchi hotspring.

1 minute walk from Shingu Station. 2 minutes from the bus stop. It is a Japanese-style house with a small Japanese courtyard. You can try on valuable samurai armor, helmets, and bridal gowns (kimono)for free. The house is reserved for a group of 3 or more people per day. Please relax as if you were at home. We usually accept up to 8 people, but we can accommodate up to 10 people on request. There is a convenience store in front of the house, which is very convenient.

Kumano house

between kamikura shrain and hayatama shrain at the walk 10min. It takes 15min by walking from house to JR Shingu Station. There isn't anyone in the house. You can relax very much. Other things to note. This place has an official permission from local government and satisfied fire safety as a short term rental accommodation. Please note that we have legal obligation in Japan to request copy of passports.
