Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization that works with other nonprofits, governments, and referral entities to provide people with temporary emergency housing in times of crisis.
Through current programs and former initiatives such as Frontline Stays, we’ve worked with communities to help people in times of crisis since 2012.
Airbnb.org is an independent nonprofit organization with its own board of directors, but Airbnb covers its operating costs, so that community donations go even further to support people in times of crisis.
Airbnb.org is a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to organizations with 501(c)(3) status may be tax deductible.
You can support Airbnb.org by hosting or donating. Hosts may choose to host Airbnb.org stays for free or at a discount or donate a percentage of each payout.
These Hosts have an Airbnb.org supporter badge on their profiles to recognize their contributions and help spread the word to our community.
Anyone with an entire home or apartment to offer can host emergency stays for people in times of crisis through Airbnb.org. In some locations, shared rooms and private rooms are also eligible for the program. This is dependent on advice from local authorities related to the spread of COVID-19.
The listings available on the site are as diverse as the Hosts who list them. Find out more about home types to see how to describe your space.
Like all Hosts on Airbnb, Hosts offering emergency stays through Airbnb.org must meet our hospitality standards, which include accurately representing your listing and availability, as well as providing a safe, secure, and clean space for guests. All Hosts and guests are required to uphold Airbnb’s community standards.
Airbnb.org works with nonprofit organisations and resettlement agencies specialising in crisis response and refugee resettlement to facilitate on-the-ground support, including assessing the needs and eligibility of potential guests. Airbnb.org does not currently provide a direct intake process for individuals in need of emergency assistance.
