Holiday rentals with lake access in Rangárþing ytra

A really lovely, homely place to stay. Very convenient for the Golden Circle yet tucked away in a lovely peaceful location. Fantastic to sit in the hot tub at the end of a busy day.

Our 4 night stay in Larus’ Lakefront Villa & nearby attractions of the Golden Circle were one of the highlights of our trip-we highly recommend! His home is spectacular in every way, including a hot tub, sauna, a large living room/gathering space w/well appointed kitchen. Directly on a lake, without others in close proximity, it’s ideal for those that want to experience the splendor of this part of Iceland more privately. As a host, Larus goes above & beyond! We had brought some equipment to fish the river 100 yards away, but not small enough tackle. When we emailed him asking location of a tackle shop, after returning from a daily activity, we were surprised & delighted to find 2 more rods & 2 new trays of tackle appropriate for the trout in the river; giving 4 of our group the chance to do some fishing in Iceland. Helga is a fantastic host! The property was great and was perfect for the reason we went to Iceland - Aurora Borealis !!! The northern lights were so great and we enjoyed them right from the deck of the cabin. Walking around the entire home while taking photos was perfect. The hot tub is excellent and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were greeted with a tasty cake and enjoyed the kitchen daily. Great hot water and shower. Slept so well in the comfy beds and linen. I can’t say enough about this property. Already trying to figure out when we are visiting again. Absolutely the best trip we could have had. The location is perfect for so many different sites inThe Golden Circle and the Geyser area!! Waterfalls were beautiful and within driving distance. A geothermal spa is just moments away. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Der Aufenthalt in der Hütte war sehr schön. Es war alles wie beschrieben und die Gastgeberin war immer sehr hilfsbereit. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen und wir würden die Unterkunft ohne Zweifel weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit :-)

Wir waren eine Woche in dem schönen Haus und es hat uns richtig gut gefallen. Das Haus war warm und abends haben wir den Hot Tub genossen. Ich kann dieses Haus jedem empfehlen. Ein super Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmungen. Einkaufen sollte man jedoch auf dem Weg dorthin. Größere Läden gibt es vor Ort nicht.

Perfect home base for three nights as we did the golden circle and the south coast. Right between Selfoss and Hella, about 15 min to each. The house is on a working dairy farm, that from what the husband told me, has been in their family for 200 years. Seemed a little odd when we pulled up, but felt right at home quickly. Nothing around you for miles, but quick drive to town for groceries, restaurants, etc. Large home and perfect for my family of four. One of our favorite things was the Urridafoss waterfall right across the road. I left my window open at night and it lulled me to sleep. My wife would take her cup of coffee over each morning to enjoy it. Reading about it, the most voluminous waterfall in Iceland and also the largest salmon run. It was beautiful. We also enjoyed the hot tub one night. Highly recommend and would stay there again for sure!

This house was perfect. The hostesses met us when we arrived, gave us instructions on things they wanted us to make sure we knew (for safety and such due to the temperatures), and spent around 2 hours giving us a tour and history of the house. It was absolutely perfect for what we needed and they were so thoughtful with all of their recommendations for activities with our children. We 100% recommend this house to others and we will be coming back in the future!

Elfa is a very helpful and positive person! She provided all the instructions with flexibility. The place is situated close to the lake close to many landmarks and national parks. The apartment is very clean (the cleanest I ever had on Airbnb) and gives you a lot of privacy. I totally recommend!

I can only offer superlatives describing my experience with Helga and her wonderful apartment. I felt right at home, and had everything I needed and more. Peace and quiet, privacy, comfort, beauty of the area, the list goes on and on. Helga has been a wonderful and helpful host. Thank you so much for helping me relax and have a fantastic time!

Logement très bien situé à mi chemin d’un côté vers Þingvellir et de l’autre côté vers Geysir et le secret Lagoon. La surface du logement est plutôt grande ce qui est plutôt agréable. Très bon échange avec Larus. À recommander.

Very nice place with lovely views. close to lots of great attractions. Spa just blocks away was a treat.

Jona was a terrific host and her cottage was perfect for our family of three. we had great conditions for viewing the northern lights and away from any light pollution so we could really enjoy their beauty!

Tout d'abord, nous avons vécu ici nos plus belles aurores boréales depuis notre arrivée en Islande (4ème soirée) : pas d'éclairage parasite, un horizon quasi dégagé à 360 degrés, les conditions météo idéales... Forcément, ce lieu est devenu culte pour nous ! Pour le logement à proprement parler : rien à redire, tout est en ordre, conforme à la description, et mieux encore... Quant à l'extérieur, il est top ! On a rêvé d'un été ici ! Inévitablement, nous reviendrons lors de notre prochain passage en Islande, et pas seulement pour les aurores, que cela soit clair, nous avons adoré notre séjour ! Si vous en avez l'opportunité, n'hésitez pas !

The cottage was easy to find if you follow the wonderful directions provided by the host. Beautiful surroundings, great variety of bird visitors. This little place was so peaceful and centrally located to so many attractions. Such a beautiful place, we highly recommend. Great hosts!

Very good communication with the lovely and very understanding hosts, they very helpful Tipps for the area. The cottage is far out in the country and really quiet, we loved the hot tub and we felt like at home right from the beginning on. It’s located on the golden circle and a perfect point to explore. Very good equipped amenities. We were really lucky to see wonderful dancing northern lights from the cottage and a really 360* view from the field on the way there with an open view in the beautiful landscape. We would suggest to get a SUV and 4x4 to get there since this was the only problem we had to get there and away after the snow storm.

Small place, but perfect for what we needed. Perfect location for getting to the Golden Circle, about 20 minutes north of Selfoss. Guidebook provided by the host was very helpful, and he was readily available for any needs. Everything was very clean. Bathroom was small but worked just fine. Bed was pretty comfortable. Pots/pans and utensils in the kitchen were better than most Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in the past. The best part was the hot tub on the deck. Warm, clean, it felt amazing. Lovely view from the front as well. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

Jóna war sehr nett, respektvoll und hilfsbereit. Einen Abend war es sehr kalt in der Unterkunft innert kurzer Zeit hat uns Jóna gleichtags einen Heizkörper vorbeigebracht. Sie war stets erreichbar und hilfsbereit. Die Wohnung war sauber und warm. Ordentlich und Sauber. In der Küche konnte man problemlos kochen. Waren sehe zufrieden können wir nur empfehlen.

We had the most wonderful time at Jona’s place. The house was in such a peaceful and relaxing location — perfect for enjoying the south coast and golden circle. We loved the large windows, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. The kids toys were a great bonus!
