List your primary home for FIFA World Cup 2026™
The largest single-sport event in history is coming to Canada, Mexico and the US in June. The FIFA World Cup 2026™ is a great opportunity to try hosting by listing your primary home.
You can earn money to help cover routine expenses, add to your savings or pay for a holiday. Offer your entire place while you’re away or a spare room while you’re in town.
Here’s what you need to know about hosting during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Why should I list my home now?
Many guests – especially those travelling internationally – like to plan ahead for big events. List your home now so guests can find and book it sooner.
More than 380,000 guests are expected to use Airbnb for stays during the FIFA World Cup 2026™. With matches scheduled in 16 cities across North America, hosts could collectively earn up to $210 million USD.*
New hosts can also get a $750 USD reward for listing an entire home in specific event zones and hosting their first guests. Terms apply.
Airbnb is the Official Fan Accommodation of the FIFA World Cup 2026™. FIFA.com features a “Book your stay” button that takes fans directly to Airbnb search results for homes in match cities.
Fans will be looking for places in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver), Mexico (Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey) and the US (Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/Jersey City, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle).
Teams representing 48 countries will face off in stages from 11 June until 19 July. The full schedule shows the dates and locations for matches near you.
How do I get started?
It’s easy to list your home and get ready to host. Here’s how:
- Create your listing. Airbnb Setup offers step-by-step guidance. It walks you through describing your place and choosing photos. You can also get tips and one-to-one support from an experienced host.
- Prepare to welcome guests. Help guests feel comfortable during their stay by providing new linen and towels, essential toiletries and reliable wifi. Be meticulous about cleaning. Take extra care to remove dust, dirt and stains from fixtures and furnishings.
- Tidy up. Your place can still reflect your style – you don’t have to hide that you live there – but be mindful of guests’ needs. Store personal items in a locked cupboard or cabinet, clear clutter and make space in cupboards, drawers and the fridge.
What’s required to host in my city?
You must follow Airbnb’s guidelines, including our hosting standards, and the laws and other rules that apply to your situation and location.
Many cities regulate short-term rentals. It’s easy to start learning about what’s allowed in your area:
Along with notes about local regulations, you can find general details about permits, taxes and being a good neighbour.
Check with your landlord and review your lease if you’re interested in hosting as a tenant.
What can I do to attract FIFA fans?
A FIFA survey of fans who attended the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ showed top booking priorities included price and proximity to the stadium.** To meet similar guest needs in 2026, you could:
- Set a competitive price. You always control your price. The tools in your Airbnb hosting calendar can help you find a strategy that works for you. Searching for similar listings nearby with availability during matches can help you understand local pricing.
- Choose a flexible cancellation policy. You select a standard cancellation policy for your home and can apply different policies to specific date ranges. Allowing guests to cancel closer to check-in for a full refund can encourage bookings.
- Highlight your location. Guests can see your home’s general location on a map before booking. If you’re near the stadium, emphasising this in your listing’s title or description can help grab attention.
- Add amenities to your listing. Let guests know if your home has popular amenities like self check-in, free parking, high-speed wifi, TV, air conditioning, a washing machine and dryer, and an EV charger.
- Include any accessibility features. Guests with accessibility needs often search for specific features, like step-free access. Adding these to your listing helps guests know if your place is a good fit. Share details about your home and, if your listing is eligible, you’ll receive personalised support from the Airbnb Accessibility team to highlight accessibility features, including a free professional photo shoot.
How common is it to list a primary home?
Many hosts list their primary homes, and it’s how Airbnb started. Some cities only allow short-term rentals in a host’s own residence.
Try these tips for welcoming guests into your home.
- Set house rules. All guests are required to agree to your house rules, like no smoking or pets, and may be removed from the Airbnb platform if they don’t.
- Decide who can book first. New hosts get to choose the type of guest they’ll welcome first: any Airbnb guest or an experienced guest. An experienced guest is someone with at least 3 completed reservations on Airbnb and no bad reviews.
- Get to know your guests. When you receive a booking request, you’ll be able to see the guest’s first name, rating and reviews, and other information. Make sure to follow Airbnb’s Nondiscrimination Policy.
- Understand that sometimes accidents happen. AirCover for Hosts provides top-to-bottom protection every time you welcome guests. It includes guest identity verification, reservation screening, $1 million USD Host liability insurance and $3 million USD Host damage protection. Learn more about AirCover for Hosts.
