The space
Sohana is a farm house situated in a hundred acre estate, which you are welcome to explore.
In line with the objectives of Modak Van Society, you can learn first hand about nature and see rainwater harvesting and solar power in action.
We can comfortably accommodate six to eight adults in two bedrooms .
Water is drawn from the borewell, and filtered and is very drinkable. We have it tested once a year.
Government Electricity supply is backed up by solar energy and inverter. AC's only run when there is govt. supply but will not run off the solar or the inverter. We have not installed a generator as it is not environmentally friendly.

Our water tank in the courtyard is filtered everyday and kept bacteria-free by ozonation, thus using very little chlorine. It is vacuum cleaned regularly but You may find some natural sediment on the bottom due to the outdoor nature of the place, which will cause it to feel sandy underfoot and some insects occasionally floating on the surface which are easily removable, but it is great for swimming and our help will remove anything that worries you. It has been deliberately tiled with Taandur tiles, to create a rough and therefore non-slippery tank floor.

The river Pej borders the orchard and has a path to help you explore its banks and rapids.

We have done our best to ensure utmost comfort with ACs if used @ ₹250/ROOM in both rooms and a high speed WiFi. However, we beg your understanding if there might be the occasional power failure resulting in them not working for a short period of time, till the power supply is restored

Nasarapur is a typical small river-side village situated between Karjat (12 km) and Neral (7 km).
The hill station Matheran is nearby at 9kms, as are the buddhist Kondana caves - 14kms to Karjat+ a few more from there.
The nearest shops are 4 kilometers away, in Kadav. You will find a number of restaurants to suit all pockets along the way, Tooth Mountain farms, Saltt, Namak to name a few. Google will provide you with the locations and distances.
