Our courtyard house is located on the longest Hutong in Beijing, parallel to the famous ChangAn Street. If you wish to take a leisurely stroll, within 10 minutes you can reach the Beijing Opera House, National Museum of China and the Forbidden City.

The space

We like to share this house with a small courtyard to you, one living room, one small bedroom and one large bedroom, suitable for 4-5 people.
We have prepared cotton bedding and towels, two kinds of pillows and healthy toiletries. All rooms comes equipped with floor heating system and free Wi-Fi .
There is no TV in the house. However we've prepared some CDs for you to listen to.
The house is designed by the owner, a well- known Architect in Beijing. She wishes to share her daily life of living in a Hutong House – the best way to experience Beijing, whilst enjoying all modern comfort and cleanness. Living room is on the first floor facing to the courtyard. We prepared a stereo and selected CD instead of TV. During the day, the living room is always bathed in natural day light. You can sit there to enjoy a cup of fresh green tea, play games or read in the corner by the window. We have some snacks and drinks in case you feel hungry. The 1st storey bedroom has a cosy double bed. You can open the curtain and let the shadow of the Pomegranate tree outside set beautiful imprints on the bed. Large bedroom is on the second floor. If the mood takes you, please enjoy the garden, listen to the quiet dialogue between the plants and the nature in the heart of one of the most bustling cities on the planet, or simply sit outside with a book when the day is warm and dry.
Hope you can experience the particular life in Hutong.

Mi didn't check us in but got her friend to do it! Her friend was so welcoming and converse in Good understandable english. Location of the apartment is very convenient and easy to navigate. However, the shower facilities needs more improvement with very little water from the showers. We've reached out to Mi and she mentioned its because of the location of the apartment being in an old district. Other than that, it was PERFECT! Loved the warm hospitality and the design of the apartment. VERY MODERN!

The courtyard house is very central. Though from outside it looks like a traditional Beijing HuTong house, inside it provides all modern comfort, such as under-floor heating, modern bathroom and a lot of natural light. This is absolutely rare in Beijing, which made my short winter stay in coldest weather ever in Beijing very cosy. Thank you Mi! I will definitely return:-)

Mi's place is great and would stay again. The location is great and if you are looking at a city map, located almost next to the opera house which is the huge dome-shaped glass building. That building is near Tienanmen square, which is adjacent to the Forbidden City. Mi's apartment is located in the Hutong neighborhood. this is an old neighborhood where many residents know each other and are very friendly. Our tour guide told us that most apartments in the Hutong do not have a bathroom, so there are public restrooms along the streets. these have attendants and are clean. Many restaurants in the area are affordable and the food is tasty. At one place in particular, we had to try hard to get the breakfast bill up to $2 US per person. This place is on the west end of the block that is across the street from Mi's place. It is run by two women in the morning, one of which stands by the door next to the steam plates full of food. It is just around the corner to the north west from the large grocery store. In the picture of the upstairs bedroom, you will notice a large wooden shape on the wall. That is a shutter that opens to a deck on the roof where there are chairs and a bench. The beds are harder than we are used to, so you might bring a memory foam topper if you are sensitive to this. Their is a variety of electrical outlets, including European, and US, as well as the local Chinese/Australian. For you electricians, they must have 110/120 on each side of the three prong configuration and neutral on the middle to make their 220/240. They must only pull one of the 110's to the US outlets on the outlets and outlet strips that have multiple types of outlets. Overall, we had an excellent stay. Thanks, Mi!
