The space
The penthouse, is a modern 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cozy home located in the quaint little beach town of Mal Pais, Costa Rica.

First master bedroom has a king size bed, private bath, smart TV (Netflix ready) and ample closet space. It has sliding glass doors which open up to the pool view balcony. Second master bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bathroom as well and the third bedroom has a queen size bed and an amazing view from atop of the pool and garden. All bedrooms come with ceiling fans and blackout curtains.

Sliding glass doors practically take up the entire west facing part of the house which open up to an expansive balcony overlooking the tropics, pool and tiki hut. The balcony offers ample space to lounge in the shade, hang in the hammock or soak some rays in the hot tub. In fact the balcony is an enjoyable living area and a perfect setup for alfresco dining.

Take a walk down to the most amazing pool deck which has a giant tiki hut with an outdoor dining table, gas grill and hammocks to lazily lounge at. The giant tiki hut casts a perfect shade over the pool's bench seating and shallows, making it especially nice to cool off from mid day sun. Don't be surprised if a cute family of howler monkeys come hang out at the tree tops!

Our fully fitted kitchen has granite counter tops and comes equipped with a 4 burner range, oven, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, toaster, toaster oven and blender. Not to mention plenty of glassware, serveware, pots/pans and cutlery. We also have a 5-gallon purified water dispenser with refills delivered to your doorstep!

Top quality linens, 400 thread count 100% long staple cotton, for a super dreamy sleeping experience. We have a fiber optic WiFi network at 100 Mbps, central A/C with Nest climate control and daily housekeeping. Ask for our specialty services like local guided tours, private yoga or pilates classes, surf lessons, massage or a private chef.

The great thing about the location is that we are in the heart of the little fishing village of Mal Pais and the most important thing is just a short walk away. The beach!

Our neighborhood is essentially the little town of Mal Pais which practically hugs the coastline. We encourage our guests to take walks from the house to town and explore the gorgeous coastline. On low tide you will find some amazing tide pools.

Playa Cuevas is hands down the most beautiful beach in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa and it's just a 5 minute drive from our property. The beach has plenty spots with shade perfect to hang out with family and friends. If you have snorkeling gear you can go snorkeling right off the beach and check out the marine life along the reef.

We have Super Chico a great grocery / liquor store that is a short walk from the house. It has a nice selection of fruits and veggies as well. Open 7 days a week 8AM - 8PM.

La Doña Teresa Pizzeria is a 5 minute walk from the property. Has excellent wood fired pizza, yummy empanadas, pasta and a full bar.

The Mal Pais Canopy is also 5 minute drive from the property and I highly recommend our guests to zip line along it's 11 platforms inside the Mal Pais Jungle. Super fun for all ages! Ask us to reserve your spot in advance they have a 9am, 11am and 3pm tour.

One of the nicest things about our neighborhood is the Mal Pais Fishery, which is just down the road (exactly 1km). You can head over there and buy fresh fish right off the line. The local fisherman will filet it for you right on the spot : )

If this is a surf trip or someone in your group is a surfer you're in for a pleasant surprise. This is one of the most consistent stretches of coastline along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The variety of sandbars and reefs makes Mal Pais and Santa Teresa a surfers paradise. Same goes for those who enjoy the outdoors and adventure tours this place is simply magical.
