The space
Frigiliana is located 50km east of Malaga and 10 minutes from Nerja and its award winning beaches. Voted one of the most beautiful villages in Andalusia. Frigiliana is an ancient Moorish village perched high in the hills overlooking the Costa del Sol with views of the Mediterranean .

This penthouse apartment has the convenience and comfort of modern living; yet it is discretely footsteps from Old Frigiliana. From two of the bedrooms there is access to a very large terrace. Part of the terrace is elevated like a 'look out post', it has a sliding canopy overhead. There is also a balcony off the living room postioned in the shade. The community/village swimming pool (open July-August) is within a 5 - 10 minute walk. There are excellent beaches within 7 minutes drive.

"BREATHTAKING,OUTSTANDING, ENTHRALLING" a guest told me last summer. "The terrace is awesome and everyday here is an unprecedented experience. Walk along the Rio Higueron through the parque natural, wading through the shallow mountain waters. We assure you: unforgettable !!! Wander around the romantic, white washed authentic village."

The two spacious double bedrooms are equal in size and both have access to the terraces (as mentioned above). The dining area opens out to a large balcony. The living room is open plan with a dining area and serving hatch to the kitchen; very cosy and inviting. Fully equipped modern kitchen great for cooking. The bathroom is modern with a bath and shower, and a washer and dryer. There are canopies, tables, chairs and adjustable sun loungers. One terrace is in the sun and a the smaller balcony, is in the shade; which is perfect for siesta. Within the apartment there is air conditioning for when you need to cool down.

Across the road from from the apartment building is a proper Spanish grocery shop, 'the coviran', small, but Jose sells almost everything for your daily needs. Even his own olive oil!

The cobbled streets and passage ways are very impressive and romantic. Plenty of tapas bars that the locals eat in too. The wines of the region, especially the reds, are charming. Plenty of wine tastings take place daily. There are amazing orange trees, lemon trees, almond trees, fig trees, olive trees, and bourganvilla! Frigiliana is a town of colourful festivals; the old castle ruins, the pottery works, arts and craft shops, the village guatarist, local artists. Don't forget to do a night of tapas bar hopping! In the apartment you will find a box containing maps and suggestions for wandering tours, restaurants and excursions.

Nearby is Nerja where you can usually catch some Flamenco dancing in various bars and restaurants. Check out the monthly magazine with all events, available at the Tourist Office in Nerja. We've taken a few day trips or overnight trips to places such as the Sierra Nevada, Seville, Granada, Gibraltar, Ronda, Marbella, and Cordoba.

The nearest airport is Malaga, from which you can hire a car or take the bus to Frigiliana.

Come enjoy this beautiful apartment and feel at home in Frigiliana. There is so much to do here- you will never tire of the place. Please contact me for further information so we can arrange your stay. I'm sure you will want to return again and again. Its just that sort of place, you will remember it forever!

Guest access
Guests have use of the entire apartment, and access to the community swimming pool, open in July and August. It is a 5 min walk (bare in mind there are stairs) and cost only a very small fee. There is also a free gym. Our local contact in the village will meet you upon arrival to answer any questions you may have and hand over the keys. We can provide check in 24 hours per day. Though after midnight there is a 25€. The wifi password is in the apartment. Dogs are allowed for a charge of 5€ per night. Mobile phones work in the aparentment as well as in the village.

Other things to note
In the apartment is a guide book written by us it explains all the activities and restaurants we recommend, and some we haven't even yet tried. The guidebook also has the information you need to work all the electronics.

There is lots of information in the apartment.

We supply you beach towels.

The Three Cultures Festival takes place in Frigiliana at the end of August for four days, its very worthwhile and fun.

There is a skateboard park for the kids that just opened, its a 10 minutes walk away.

We also have a baby cot with linens and high chair that we can arrange for guests upon request for 5€ a night.

There is a fire extinguisher in the hall way outside the apartment.

The apartment is accessible via stairs to the second floor.

I've posted over 50 photos so please look at them; it will give you the best introduction to the village life and the apartment.

In the summer the cobblestones heat up so best to wear shoes with treads/grip to avoid slipping.

We leave some dry goods in the kitchen, such as herbs and spices, local virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Along with tea, coffee, sugar and washing detergents to cover the first days. We simply ask you to replace what you finish.

Location

Frigiliana, Andalusia, Spain

The village has so much character! Its artisan shops and traditional Spanish restaurants are charming. Most of the restaurants are found at the very end of the passageways. The setting is delightful and quiet, with lots of white painted, pueblo style, houses. The passageways are very clean and tidy streets, but dont be alarmed if you see mules delivering goods up some of the stairs. You will never tire of great things to see and do in Frigiliana. Some of the tapas bars have fantastic views and a cozy authentic atomosphere. The village square, opposite the church is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. Its only 2 minutes walk from the apartment. There is also a village market near the entrance of town. Check what day the market is on as it can change. There are good coffee shops in the village. Once you start wandering up into the village it just seems to go on and on, this way, and that way. Everything that goes up into the upper regions of the village has to be carried up, how amazing! You're never far from another little tapas bar or a cozy restaurant. Don't be shy, if it looks quiet, just step inside, sit on the balcony for a bit people watching and enjoy the view. Usually the house specialty or local wine is the best. Most of the little places just serve one wine; But have no worries, its usually good!

We have our own 'Montmartre' in Frigiliana: painters working in the open air, higher up in the village. Sometimes there is also a guitar player and I have heard he is very good. No official opening hours, completely informal, always a surprise if you catch one of them at work.

In late August, there is four days of celebrating the 3 Cultures of Frigiliana. Without a doubt the tapas route is one of the most popular activities, the majority of visitors take part. Every year hundreds of people pack the streets to complete the route. There are various tapas 'competitions' at the festival. Various restaurants design menus that are relative to the 3 cultures theme offering Sephardic, Arabic or Christian menus. These menus are exclusively offered during the festival.
Fancy a hike, there are many but my favourite is the Rio Chillar.
