Plockton is the ideal place for anyone looking to escape to another world. Situated on the North West Coast of Scotland, this picturesque village has lots to offer - whether you're looking for peace and quiet or a bit more adventure, there is something for everyone.

The perfect base for those wanting to explore the West Highlands, with the Isle of Skye, Glenelg and Applecross only a drive away. If its walking or Munro bagging you're in to, Plockton and the surrounding area can offer an endless number of incredible walks and climbs for all levels of fitness and ability.

With the water only a stones throw away, getting out on it is a must. See the village from another perspective by going out to see the seals with Calum and his crew on the Sula Mhor. This award winning trip has plenty to offer, not just spectacular scenery and wildlife. Calum has a wealth of local knowledge and he and his crew and will be only too happy to share this with you and will tell you more about the area and it's history.
It is also possible to explore the waters by kayak - whether you're a beginner or are more advanced. Guides and lessons are available.

When it comes to eating and drinking in Plockton, we are very lucky to have three great eateries. The Shores restaurant is only a few doors away, as is The Plockton Hotel and The Plockton Inn. All serve fresh local seafood, and both hotels have won several awards. Enjoy the beer garden of The Plockton hotel - I don't think I'm being biased when I say it's got to be one of the most scenic out there! There's live traditional music in the local pubs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings throughout the summer months. (Thursday's only during winter months).

Often considered the jewel of the Highlands, Plockton is a popular place for artists and photographers, and along with the surrounding area has been the back-drop to a number of TV series and films. So if you just want somewhere to relax with the beautiful scenery all around you Plockton is the place for you.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in early October, so that we could visit Skye and stay somewhere that would accept a dog (we have a golden retriever). We had a wonderful time. Fiona and Alexander's home is a delight: it's warm and stylish, beautifully appointed, and a real pleasure to spend time in. We arrived to find flowers and wine (and tea, coffee, bread and milk), as well as recommendations for three places to eat in Plockton. We lit the fire one evening and felt utterly cosy. Lucy, our dog, settled in well in a bed we made up for her in the hall near a side door into a wee courtyard. The arrangements were all perfect. This is a 'boutique' AirBNB experience and I recommend it to you. Plockton is beautiful. So is Skye; but I recommend you allow some time and space to enjoy being in Plockton. We went twice on one-hour boat trips with Calum's Boat Trips to see the seals. His ticket office is nearby and includes a very fine gift shop. We had an excellent meal on our last evening at Plockton Shores; do try it (good idea to book). What more can I say? Everything was lovely.

Had a lovely stay. The flat was clean and cosy, Plockton is a beautiful village and we had everything we needed. There's a shop about 3 doors down and a pub about 5 doors in the other direction. Would definitely come back!

This cottage is ideally placed on the waterfront within easy walking distance of hotel and restaurants. It is very comfortable and beautifully and tastefully appointed with everything you could need for your stay. Fiona is charming and very helpful. The area is stunning with the breath taking beauty of the Highlands on your doorstep. The Isle of Skye is but a short car drive away and surely must be one of the most awe inspiring places in the country. All in all highly recommended.

Great location for exploring amazing scenery, we visited late September, can imagine it would be very busy in high season, some roads are challenging. Great seafood, the Shores restaurant is a must.

Plockton itself is ridiculously pretty with stunning views and magical walks from the front door, plus multiple very nice places to eat within a minute's walk from the house (we particularly recommend 'Plockton Shores'). The house is beautiful and very comfy inside with a particularly luxurious duvet and the possibility of a real fire when the weather gets colder. Having said that, the central heating system is very effective so the fire was never strictly necessary. Spacious kitchen with nice big table to sit at. We had a fantastic time - thank you very much!

What a lovely home in a beautiful setting. The perfect location to get away from it all and see parts of Scotland that I hadn't seen before. Fiona and Alexander were excellent hosts and had provided everything needed for a relaxing long weekend.
