Surrounded by 12 acres of aspen and spruce, overlooking beautiful 18 mile-long lake. Private yet readily accessible to South Fork Snake River fly fishing, Jackson Hole, Tetons, and Yellowstone. Immaculately maintained, lovely interior.

The space

Fully furnished modern cabin, with full kitchen, washer & dryer, satellite TV, WIFI, etc.

Guest access

The entire cabin is accessible, as well as our 13 acres of mountainside for short walks.

Interaction with guests

We live on adjacent property and will normally be available to assist with any issues or to provide recommendations for activities.

Our house is about 100 ft away from the cabin, separated by an Aspen grove with enough Cedar and Spruce to provide total privacy even when the Aspens have dropped their leaves.

Other things to note

Bring some warm clothing along with your t-shirts and shorts. We are at 5850 feet elevation and have fairly low humidity as a rule, resulting in thin air that does not retain daytime heat. It starts to get chilly as soon as the sun goes down and the difference between afternoon highs and morning lows is typically around 40 degrees.

The cabin is everything it is shown to be, very quiet and very private. The view of the lake is wonderful, especially on a moonlit night. We found the cabin to be well equipped and comfortable.

What a beautiful place. When we first arrived, the hosts had the place all set up and extremely inviting! Full of art done by the host Nancy, this well loved cabin is cozy and very well stocked with all the necessities. The view of the lake is glorious. From there, my husband and I were able to explore the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park, and Jackson Hole. The hosts themselves were extremely gracious and helped in suggesting where to go in order to make the most of our vacation. We saw so much! We also made sure we saved a couple of days to simply rest and relax in the cabin itself, enjoying the view and the many adorable critters that came to visit - including a couple of young mule deer. Such a precious space! Thank you Nancy and Larry!

The cabin was so homey and the owners warmly greeted us. The place is well stocked and labeled with just about anything you need. There was even milk, bottled water, yougurt, bread and frozen pizza in the fridge. It is so immaculate and well kept. We will be back!

Nancy and Larry were wonderful hosts. They were very accommodating and warm, and communication was very smooth. I would definitely recommend this beautiful cabin to anyone looking for a tranquil retreat. Coming from a busy city, it was so nice waking up to sounds of the birds and leaves of the trees every morning. The view from the windows and gazebo was truly beautiful. Driving to/from the National Parks was definitely worth. We loved spending time in the cabin, looking over the river. Would love to come back again in the future.

I am a retired professor from Empire State College, where I taught management and leadership courses in their MBA program. While with Empire State, I also participated in an International Program where I taught Middle-Eastern students (most were Lebanese, but some were from surrounding countries.) My husband, Larry, is a retired finance manager from Electric Boat Corp. We enjoy snowmobiling, nordic skiing, boating, day hiking (backpacking is somewhat behind us now), and just maintaining our 13 acre piece of the forest. Now that I am retired from teaching, I enjoy painting. Several of my paintings add to the ambience of the cabin.

When we lived in Idaho Falls (in the 1970s and 80s), we spent many weekends backpacking and camping in the Gros Ventre, Teton, Caribou and Snake River ranges. The mountains of the “Greater Yellowstone” area became our “Sacred Space” because of the beauty and memories.

We moved to upstate NY in 1988, but always had a desire to head back west. Every summer from 1994 to 1999, we would book airfare to somewhere in the intermountain west (Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Grand Junction, Colorado Springs, etc.), rent a car, and head for a national forest with backpacking tent, sleeping bags and some cooking utensils in one suitcase and some clothing in another. Every morning we would break camp, drive into the nearest town, visit a realtor and get a map of potential land that met our criteria, drive to each one and then on to another campground.

In 1999, after a search through Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains, we decided to see what might be available in our old hiking grounds back around Palisades. We stopped in at a local realtor, described what we were looking for, and he took us 6 miles up the road to show us two adjacent parcels, both for sale by the same owner. We made an offer to buy both parcels later that afternoon (July 2). It was accepted on July 3rd and we camped there on July 4th for our 17th anniversary.

In 2006, we installed a cabin as our vacation home. In 2013 we built our retirement home on the 2nd parcel. After renting the cabin for the 2015 summer to some new Swan Valley residents, we decided to go with AirBnB as a way of sharing the "Sacred Space" that we have loved for 40 years.
