The Orient is a great carriage beautifully finished with Rosewood Walls and Jarrah furniture made by a top marine cabinet maker. There are two compartments each with a double bed built in with the original train seats opposite . Rosewood walls and Gorgeous Jarrah furniture
This is a 1905 R Carriage that has been restored back to old world class. The Rosewood walls and Jarrah furniture was made by a top marine cabinetmaker. The Rosewood came from the New Parliament house where the Politians went to light to dark so the marine cabinet maker got it

Other Things to Note
A great experience
The carriages are self catering and must be left clean and tidy. Rubbish to be sorted and we buy all the water so it is much appreciated if the guests do not waste it. The carriage is suitable for a dog. Smoking is outside
Unique and wonderfully implemented. We stayed in the 2 couple 'orient'. The carriages will take your breathe away. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to look through the other 6 classic carriages that have been expertly restored to accommodate couples and families and I cannot wait to return and try them all! The setting is perfect - off the beaten path, peaceful, simple. Perfect for bbq under the stars. Marie is a wonderful, friendly host.
Marie is a fabulous host and took the time to greet us and show us around her fabulous property. Nothing was too much trouble, it felt like we were staying at a friend's place. The kids had a ball playing tennis, swimming, Kangaroo spotting, star gazing and of course loved sleeping on a train carriage. Wineries are just down the road, as are the Hunter Valley Gardens which we enjoyed immensely. The Orient was exquisite. Fine finishes and very comfortable beds. It is a gorgeous setting amongst gum trees; beautiful, private and quiet. I would not hesitate to recommend Marie or this unique and fun accommodation to anyone.
We had a fantastic stay at this place. Marie is a great host and welcoming; and the 2 schnauzers as well. As we arrived on Boxing Day, which most of the wineries and restaurants are closed, Marie went an extra mile to print us the visitor information to check on their opening hours. She even went through the list with us and recommended the must visit places. Although the carriage might be warm during daytime (summer) but room is equipped with 2 fans. The windows provide pretty much airways too. The place is cooling at night. Highly recommended place to stay.
What a great and unusual experience!
Marie has been very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable, the pool was also great to refresh after a busy day in the Hunter Valley
Host was very welcoming. Train carriages are different. They are are museum pieces from the early 1900. That said they do need a bit of upkeep. In the hot weather, remember that they do not have air conditioning and will get very hot. Also, if you are travelling with a good amount of luggage; there is little room in the train to set your suitcase down. On the positive side, they are set in a great setting, away from the hustle and bustle of a city. You have horses and kangaroos as neighbours. You are in the middle of wine country and there is plenty to visit within minutes of the carriages.
We had an absolutely fantastic time in the hunter on this trip. Marie very kindly upgraded us to the safari carriage which was decked out with leopard print curtains, zebra print cushions and even safari themed bedding. The rooms and bedding were spotlessly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having breakfast out on the deck in the morning and watching the horses and kangaroos in the fields. After a hard day cycling (bike hire is just next door) and wine tasting, we relaxed in the spa which was lovely. Marie was extremely welcoming and provided some good knowledge of the area. This is a great choice for out-of-the-ordinary accommodation right in the heart of Pokolbin. We'll definitely be back!
We had a short stop at the place for a day, no drama, reasonably priced, different experience, convenient and private, the carriages are far away from one another. A bit hot, but there are two fans in the room, which helped me to sleep through the night.
