Cute, rustic attic room in Northcote warehouse. The warehouse space is quite cavernous and prone to being hot/ cold - this room is kind of like camping indoors! Comfy queen futon, basics such as clothes rack and desk provided. Very steep staircase.

The space
Cute attic room in warehouse complex behind the main drag in Northcote - a lively suburb of Melbourne home to many great music venues, bars and wonderful places to eat. The warehouse itself is un-renovated - i.e. quite open, a little bit dusty and a true arts warehouse experience! We keep things as neat and tidy and as clean as we can but the nature of the space means that there is a certain ever present 'grunge' element. We are super friendly, the room is cheap and cheerful but certainly not uber clean. Please don't book if this makes you uncomfortable. The staircase to the attic bedroom is also super steep, so care must be taken when climbing up and down the stairs. We live close by and are available in case of any issues or emergencies.

Northcote is such a wonderful neighbourhood. 20 mins from the city, 15 mins from Collingwood (which is where we work and super great!) it's just far out enough to be relaxed but there's still heaps happening. The Northcote Town Hall is literally at the front door and boasts music and theatre all year round. There are some great music institutions such as the Northcote Social Club for local and interstate indie bands, Bar 303 for Jazz, Open Studio for world/ gypsy music, crepes and true bohemia! Bars are open late and there's lots of great food including Pizza Meine Leibe (best pizza northside) and Tahini felafel eatery. There's lots of local shops as well boasting Melbourne made and ethical goods including Green Horse, Obus, A quirk of Fate, I dream a Highway, Local Shop, Brown and Bunting and tons more. Fantastic vinyl at Rathdowne Records and Thornbury Records. Decent coffee and brekfast at All Are Welcome Bakery and Penny Farthing.

Hello we are both musicians and work as vegan chef & in hospitality. We are both passionate about arts, culture and the environment and run an artist studio called Eastmint where we (super) host an Air BB in the loft room since 2016.

Esala is currently studying drums and working at Friends of the Earth Food Co-op, where I also work part-time. We play in a number of local Melbourne bands and a theatre company based in LA called Fourlarks. Our bands is called Cold Hands Warm Heart.

Our residence is a warehouse in Northcote, which we share with artist studio tenants called Eastmint studios. We regularly put on gigs in our space which are community inclusive and promote active listening and engaging with all sort of different genres of music & poetry. This year is our tenth year!!

As well as working at Friends of the Earth, I work freelance as a harpist and also work at a bike shop. My partner Esala is vegetarian & I am a vegan.

We both love the outdoors and camping and wildlife spotting. We also love checking out the local arts and music scene wherever we go, and finding local produce that we can cook up; maybe we could even make you dinner?

During your stay

We work on our music and record label from the warehouse so are around at various times to help with tips on what to see/ do in Melbourne and any transport trouble shooting. It's very easy to get around and we are 10 seconds from the 86 tram and 6 minutes to Northcote train station.
