Our 3 bedroom, 3 Bathroom secluded island Eco retreat is stunning. No cars, accessed only by boat. Moso Island is untouched with so much to offer, surrounded by turquoise waters and an abundance of marine life.

The space

Secluded and private suitable for up to 6 adults

Guest access

We have a Paddle board, 2 outrigger canoes, fishing rods, pristine private beaches and access to many local boats to take you where ever you like.

Interaction with guests

A gardener/maintenance guy will drop in every few days to check on everything, and we have a security guard on from 5pm - 6am. He will check on the generator and secure the premises.
For a small fee of VT3600 (AUD$45) per day (8 hours) we can organise a house girl, to help prepare meals, wash up, make beds, look after the children and do the washing.
We also live 5 minutes walk away on the other side of the bay.

Other things to note

Our Eco home is run on solar. We have a generator if needed, we do however ask that guests remember that water and power all rely on solar energy and to be mindful of their usage. You will not be without power under any circumstances, but we encourage minimising water usage and use of electrical devices, especially after sunset.
You will be supplied with 10 litres of fuel per week, this is sufficient to run the house. If you are night owls and use more fuel it can be purchased from us easily for VT200/ltr.
Tap water is potable, if you wish to consume bottled water, it is available in 20lt, 1.5lt or 600ml bottles from the resort.

Trips to and from the airport or town, range from VT6000 and VT8000 depending on how many stops you wish to make and how long it takes.
Boat trips across to the mainland are VT2000 return, and range from VT5000 - VT12,000 for fishing, snorkeling or just cruising around.
All of these trips should be organised through us, to ensure you are being charged the correct amount and that you have a reliable driver or captain. Your arrival and departure boat trips are VT2000 return.

We are able to purchase provisions for guests if this is required. Just ask, and we will get you to email a shopping list. Taking into account any weekend arrivals that bottle shops and the fruit and vegetable markets are closed from 11:30 Saturday until Monday morning.
We do have beer, wine and mixers available at the resort (5 minutes away) if you require them.

The house will have basics in the kitchen, oil, spreads, salt, pepper, ice, and anything unopened from previous guests. Please feel free to use these, if you happen to finish off one of the basics please replace. You will have a starting supply of toilet paper, washing up detergent, mozzie coils, insect spray, but it would be a good idea to include these on your list.

House was as described. Stayed as two couples, very relaxing and quiet. Perfect place to unwind.

First up, Joel, as he was the threshold (email, booking) to our stay. Leading up to the visit he was completely attentive and swift in response to all our queries, which, seeing as we were travelling with small children and had never been to Vanuatu, were many and detailed. His responses were clear and informative, very easy process. The place. Was terrific. It's a big place, with large rooms. Modern and simple in design, but also sympathetic to the environment, it did not feel a rude presence in the land and was designed to embrace and capitalise on the environment- walls of glass doors that can be opened up entirely, for example. While modern and minimal in aspect, the materials felt to be of the place (which they are- timber etc) and, although clean, white and minimal in interior, it was not fussy, nor afraid to have the organics of living in such a place exist on its surfaces. meaning that, with small children and the doors always open, there were periods of time where we were strewn about in form of meal remains and child untidiness, bugs came running through etc. The house took it in its stride and was easily cleaned up. It has everything you would need in terms of furniture, but not too much. The amenities- post pans etc, while basic are entirely enough. We were pretty un-demanding. We needed a holiday to relax and we simply did that. The children ran naked all day everyday and we did little but eat, swim and snorkel. All which can be done from the house- snorkeling is pretty good from right out front of the house. The environment seems to be utterly benign. From what I can read the only dangerous thing one might confront is a banded krait, a type of sea snake- we saw one out front and it was entirely unbothered by our presence. The temperature this time of year (august) was not too hot, no mosquitos even. I would have liked to have a bit more time with locals... always difficult when one is on holiday in someones homeland. That being said, those we had interactions with were really lovely, friendly and funny. There is a track that runs along the waterfront which local kids take back and forth to school so we saw and said hello most days. We never locked the house nor felt in any way concerned about security. The Moso resort, Joel's joint, is a five minute walk away. It's an easy avenue for good simple food / coffee/ a drink and a deftly put together enterprise. Joel and Antuon and all the staff are entirely charming to deal with, and easy. The resort, while having the decor, amenities and taste of a proper resort is yet small enough to feel as if you're staying at someone's house, albeit well-serviced by your hosts rather than an awkward guest. The above being said, the place and stay are not as refined...

What an absolutely wonderful location, the house catered to our needs. It was great being able to call in at the resort at anytime we needed anything (especially a great cocktail or two!). They are wonderful hosts and will go out of their way to help. We caught a Wahoo and the Chief at "The Moso" did an exceptional job for preparing it for us that evening. It was fantastic to have a house lady called Claudia - she came every morning did our dishes, made beds, did laundry and anything else I asked her to do. Would definitely recommend it, worth every penny and more. Thoroughly enjoyed the Island - the villagers made us feel very welcome and the children are very special. We will be going back and staying on Moso again guaranteed. Thanks Joel :)

Response from Joel:
A fabulous bunch of people. The house was left as it was found and the entire group was so respectful of everything around them. Highly recommend these guys to other hosts. PS they are also a lot of fun too. Hope to see you again soon.

We loved our stay in Moso! We are a family with 3 children of 4, 6 and 8yo and enjoyed a lot Moso. It's far away from touristic sites, there are 2 small villages on the island with the most amazing people! Ni van's are the best! We stayed there for 5 nights and cooked our meals most of the time. We found Vanuatu quite expensive , so be prepared to spend money!

This home is set in a tropical paradise and was the experience (& location) our family came to Vanuatu looking for. Joel and Anton were amazing hosts and were so incredibly helpful in making our stay perfect. From stocking the house with groceries to beautiful dinners at their restaurant this was a truly wonderful holiday. Thanks guys!

Eco friendly home. Where you have a cultural experience. The house, views and setting very accurate. Resort close by where you can have a meal or arrange trips. Lots of friendly local kids and dogs. Walk across the island to a totally secluded beach for snorkeling. Close to diving spots and the hawksbill turtle rookery.

Love food, wine, travel, design and the beach. My partner and I owned a patisserie/cafe in Erskineville (Sydney) for 10 years and have now relocated to Moso Island, Vanuatu where we are buiding a boutique resort.

We love to stay in lovely places when we travel and have opened our own homes up for other people that like the same.
