The space

Step back in time when you stay in our beautiful cosy cottage. It was recently sympathetically restored but still retains all of it's original features with oak beamed ceilings, window shutters, stone floors & walls and antique furniture throughout. The lounge is spacious with a large stone fireplace & has a wood burning stove. The TV & DVD are hidden in a cabinet so you can light the candles, put a log on the stove and rewind a century or two. The kitchen has fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave etc & leads into the cottage garden with small lawn, flower borders & car parking space. The en-suite bedroom is furnished with period pieces including a double & a single bed, wardrobe & drawers, original sash window with wooden shutters. A lovely old and quirky house. Very well located in the centre of the town with easy access to the surrounding countryside. The box of biscuits and bottle of wine left by our host was very much appreciated. Would we go back.....Yes.

We had a wonderful stay in Daisy Cottage, everything we needed was there. Kevin was there to welcome us and gave us some good local tips for eating out and places to visit. The little extras were much appreciated. The cottage is just a few minutes from the main High Street in Barnard Castle and a good base for exploring the area.

Location is right in the middle of Barnard Castle with shops and pubs just around the corner and the Bowes Museum a short walk away. It is on a main road but any traffic noise wasn't too intrusive. The shutters on the bedroom window made for an unusual feature and gave the room an old-world feel. Comfy bed and nice bathroom, convenient kitchen. Living room settee could do with a bit of an update. Woodburner gave off plenty of heat and the house was warm and cosy. Kevin met us when we arrived, communicated well and was a very hospitable host.

A lovely period cottage, very comfortable and cosy. Well situated for exploring the area. We were made most welcome by Kevin and we appreciated the wine, and other more basic provisions provided, especially after our journey.

This is a great place - comfortable, well positioned and equipped, friendly and supportive hosts. We were very glad to have our own parking space. Being 'at home' here ensured our holiday was as we had hoped and needed. Highly recommended.

My hobbies are classic cars & visiting historical buildings. Since being made redundant I now host Daisy cottage with my daughter Sarah.
