This vaulted-ceiling loft is newly built, made with native trees from the property. It overlooks pristine Green Lake and offers sleeping for 4 on high-end, firm mattresses with down pillows. It has an ensuite full bath and ample built-in storage. This is a unique and quiet retreat, away from the fast pace of daily life. It is serene and peaceful, with loons calling and wind in the pines.

The space
The lake is 3 miles wide and 7 miles long. There are four beaver dams within walking distance from the house and bald eagles fly over the dock multiple times each day. You'll see loons and fall asleep to the sound of their calls. You can paddle into a quiet area of the lake where one often sees blue heron, hawks and osprey. There are also deer, fox and wild turkeys.

Our home is located at the end of a dirt road that runs through blueberry barrens and old growth forest, great for morning walks or runs.

Guest access
You're welcome to enjoy the waterfront, including my fleet of kayaks and the dock. Green Lake is one of Maine's cleanest and most pristine lakes. It's great for fishing, swimming and viewing eagles, osprey, great blue herons, mergansers, mallards, beaver, fox, and hares.

Other things to note
Though there isn't a full kitchen in the loft, a microwave, coffee maker, and plates/utensils are provided. You may also use the full-sized refrigerator/freezer and utility sink downstairs or cook outdoors over the gas grill and enjoy roasting s'mores over the campfire.

Location

Ellsworth, Maine, United States

We are 15 minutes from Ellsworth, where you can find anything you need, from small local shops and restaurants to large grocery and big box stores. Acadia National Park is a 45 minute drive and offers great hiking, biking and boating. While there, I highly recommend a drive of the Loop Road for a view from the top Hi of Mount Cadillac, and some of the other hot spots including Thunder Hole, Otter Cliffs, Sand Beach and Jordan Pond House, famous for it's popovers and jelly (and it's bees).

I'm a retired teacher. I love Maine and all that it has to offer. I swim in the lake almost every morning, rain or shine. I'm 79 years old and volunteer actively at Acadia and can help guide you towards some great Maine adventures.
During your stay
I'm generally around and live in the main house. You may find me reading on the dock or gardening. I have lived in Maine for 60 years, am a regular volunteer at Acadia National Park as well as the Maine Island Trail Association and would be happy to provide any guidance that might help you plan your visit.
