“THE CAUSE ”
of the Mountain View cabins
Here's a timeline of our property that will help you understand our story and learn more about the home we provide to retreatants.
In 2006 I learned about meditation and how beneficial it was for people. I then decided to provide a facility for people to learn meditation retreats and acquired three 5 acres zone properties. But I had to be patient. It wasn't until a decade later in 2015 that I hosted the first meditation retreat (which was led by a Chan Master!).
In early 2016 after the retreat I decided to build a meditation hall. This was the second phase
Third phase: in 2018 after hosting a few retreats, I realized it is very important to have comfortable sleeping quarters for meditators to practice well! So I continue to build three more structures to provide 10 additional beds.
We've hosted 10 retreats so far from 2016-2019. We have come a long way! I was fortunate to have the opportunity to organize our nonprofit retreat center and to serve as a volunteer to host the meditation retreats. In the process I have encouraged many beginners to learn meditation and been happy to assist the more advanced meditators to continue to progress on their path.
Meditation is one of the ways to liberate ourselves from suffering, to reducing our vexation.
I am grateful for everything in the Mountain View Cabins!
Hosting to Airbnb guests
When and which cabins:
Other than the time when the retreat is in progress, all the cabins are open for the Airbnb guests to rent (except the meditation hall and the three new structures). During formal retreats, four buildings are only open for the participants of meditation retreat, not Airbnb guests.
