Experience life on the farm and make yourself at home in our unique country farmhouse. Described as THE place to stay in Kerry, it is perfect for an action-packed adventure of the Wild Atlantic Way, a fun family holiday or to enjoy a peaceful country getaway. Our place has four bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and living area plus a backyard patio and vegetable garden. Enjoy a walk to Rattoo Round Tower at sunset, a drive to the beach or a Guinness in one of the local pubs.
Our four bedroom home is comfortably furnished. It offers guests two large double bedrooms and the other two, each furnished with two single beds. The property is adjoining my own home, so you have the comfort and privacy of your own space yet the security of having myself and my husband John next door if you need anything from travel advice to restaurant recommendations.
Each bedroom is decorated in a theme inspired by our local area. One room is based on a traditional Irish farmhouse and has a view of the family dairy farm. The others are inspired by the nearby beaches and the surrounding flora and fauna.
The kitchen/living room is a spacious welcoming area. It has everything you need to both relax and whip up a hearty meal. It features a large dining table that seats eight people, a coffee machine, electric oven, grill, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, cooking utensils and ample room for storage. There are two arm chairs and an electric fire, the ideal space to sip a morning coffee or relax and unwind after a day of traveling.
Everything you might need (bed linen, towels, kitchen items and coffee pods) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Kerry. We also provide tea, coffee, cereal, milk and of course eggs from our free range hens!
Our place is located in the heart of North Kerry, on the Wild Atlantic Way just outside the historic village of Ballyduff. Enjoy a short walk or cycle to the Rattoo Round Tower, catch the sunset in one of the beautiful nearby beaches, sample a restorative seaweed bath in Ballybunion, go on a day trip to Killarney or Dingle or walk to one of the many traditional Irish pubs in Ballyduff for a pint of Guinness.
We also have plenty of room for parking if you are bringing a car.
You will also have access to the large kitchen, upstairs bathroom and bedrooms, a small utility room where there is a washer and a dryer and our shared front and back gardens where you might bump into our Border Collie or Jack Russell terriers.
Interaction with guests
You have the best of both worlds, your own space but the comfort of having us next door if you need any advice or help during your stay. The amount of interaction is up to you; I am happy to spend time telling you about the area, teaching you a few words and phrases in Irish (Gaelic) or a trip to collect the eggs from our free range hens.
Other things to note
This is a farm house so you may hear some farm animals from time to time (all part of the experience). Our place is two-story with all bedroom upstairs. We are flexible with check-in/out times once there is not another guest coming. If there is we have a room where you can lock your bags if you wish. This house is connected to my own home via a corridor (where the bike is in the photo) but this remains locked at all times during your stay. Public transport in the Irish countryside is very limited so we would strongly recommend hiring a car.
While smoking is not permitted inside the house, you are welcome to smoke in the gardens/patio area.
I am a school teacher who loves traveling, gardening and the outdoors. I enjoy spending time with my family, cycling around the scenic North Kerry and catching a sunset in Kilmore Beach (the closest beach to my home). Baking, photography, walking and hiking are also passions of mine. My next trip is to New York!
I have vast experience in hospitality. My family ran a guest house for over fifteen years and even hosted famous Irish television personalities. I also probably have an ideal place for Airbnb. It is a full house adjoined to my own giving you the comfort and privacy of your own place yet the security of having both myself and my husband John next door. We are both foodies and travel junkies, so we are on hand to give you lots of restaurant recommendations and tips and advice for touring Kerry if you wish!
Happy travels :)
