Aloha Maile, my sincere apologies that you felt the barn did not suite your needs and expectations. We have taken your review into account and have since re-phrased the first sentence of our description so that future guests do not misconstrued this rental as a place where they can host a large event like you did of over 50 people when you told us you were hosting a small dinner party of 20. I have also provided future guests of a more descriptive view of the place so that they are aware that it is a loft above a barn and should be expected to have a rural and country style feel. The barn was professionally cleaned the day prior to your stay and I made sure to do a walk through before hand. Our trusted cleaners have been in business for over 20 years and we always do a walk through with them to ensure that the job is up to our high standards. We expected for you and your family to spend the night of course since you are renting a vacation rental, not an event venue and we had no issues with that. There was ONE photo that showed people in the barn which might have also confused you into thinking it is ok to host such a large event at our property, and we have removed that as well and thank you for letting us know how misleading that was for you. I am unsure as to what lag of communication you mean because I do have a 100% response rate on this website which is tracked by Airbnb. I did promise a photo of the barbecue that you requested we provide and apologize that you did not receive that. When I spoke with you after finding out that you threw a large event, you informed me that these people invited themselves to your party and you were hesitant to say no. The truth of the matter is, had you just been honest with us from the beginning about the size of event you were hosting, we would have been more accommodating to exactly what you needed, provided the right price and paperwork, and everything would have gone off without a hitch. Large events like the one you had at our property need the appropriate permits and liability insurances with accordance to the state law here in Oahu. We at Tradewinds Ranch always want to make sure that the guests are safe and protected. You were told that there are free roaming animals on the ranch and having over 25 vehicles come in and out of the gate is a huge liability for us and our neighbors. If we were to host an event, we ensure that these animals are in their proper enclosures so that no guests or animals are harmed. I apologize that you received our house rules last minute but there are also no statements in the house rules regarding the large event you threw since the event was not in discussion. For future guests, the house rules are posted and can be seen prior to booking. In the future, rather than lying to the people you are renting from, you should just be blatant about what you need the property for so that there is no cause for confusion of expectations from both parties. Mahalo for staying with us.
