Le Figuier is a newly renovated two-bedroom gite built into the heart of a 18th century watermill called Le Moulin. It is set amid two acres of gardens. The 11m pool attracts sun from dawn to dusk and we are close to all local amenities.

The space

Located between medieval Carcassone and the beautiful Black Mountains of Languedoc-Roussillon, Le Figuier's pool, facilities and many original features makes it ideal for a summer, autumn or winter break.
Le Figuier comprises one double and one twin bedroom, kitchen area, bathroom, lounge area and a private courtyard area for relaxation and outdoor eating.
There is plenty to explore in the two acres of grounds and gardens which surround the gite.
We have a 11x5m pool which is shared with our two others gites and ourselves. It has a large and secluded poolside terrace and decking area which which receives sun from dawn to dusk.
The pool area includes a paddling pool area for the very young and sports facilities include badminton, football and trampolining.
Free wifi and secure off-road parking are all also included.

Guest access

Pretty much anywhere. There is the pool and decking area, the gite courtyard, various relaxation/sitting areas, the parking area, the badminton area, river, even the bamboo grove is worth exploring! We also have guest washing machine facilities.

Interaction with guests

If needed, we are always available just by ringing our doorbell because we live upstairs.

Other things to note

We are pet and child friendly. We have a travel cot, high chair and paddling pool, plus games, bats and balls and kids DVDs for settling them down in the evening. We have a friendly dog called Lilly who is a hit with almost everyone who has ever stayed here.
One useful thing to know is that tap water here is fine to drink! There is no need to lug heavy drinking water containers from the local shop as tap water is the same quality as the UK.

House Rules
Check-in time is 4PM - 10PM
Check out by 11AM

We don't have many house rules except commonsense and courtesy.
The pool gates should be kept locked when we have young children staying and responsible adults should be present at all times when children are around the pool. It helps if sunbathers wait 30 minutes between applying sun tan lotion and getting in the pool as this allows time for skin to absorb the cream.
There are no extra charges so there is no cleaning fee, no additional guest fee, no weekend pricing. Arrival time is usually any time after 4pm on the first day, and check out time 11am on the last day.
However this not written in stone, depending on flight times, other bookings etc. For instance, guests arriving early often drop off baggage or use the pool and terraces if the gites are not ready when they arrive. Likewise, we can often work round an afternoon departure flight.

Helen User Profile

It was April 2006 when me, my husband Mick and our two sons Jack and Harry swapped the buzz of central London for the sun and tranquility of Languedoc Roussillon.
So much has changed since then. Despite having no previous experience in construction, Mick has spent several years renovating our lovely Moulin, building two gites and a swimming pool.
I now run a small business teaching English to local children and adults.
And our kids are continuing their progress through village school, college and lycee. August 2010 was a major highlight when me and Mick got married here in our garden, surrounded by dozens of English and French friends and family.
We love this place and think you will too. Best regards Helen
