The space

Upper Beeches is a spacious two-storey home that is part of the west wing of an old character house, once home to the manager of the famous Oakhill Brewery. An idyllic walled english country garden is a short pathway away for guests to enjoy beautiful space for bbq's and relaxing.
Perfect for families and groups of friends. The two floors work especially well for families with older children as there is opportunity for family groups to have their own space. The hallway and stairs lead to first floor with master bedroom and family bathroom. This floor also houses the newly installed kitchen and mid-century styled open-plan living area. A small set of stairs leads straight into the 3rd bedroom/2nd living room with flat screen tv with built in dvd. There is a further spacious bedroom with twin beds accessed via this room. The bedroom has an additional en-suite and shower. An idyllic walled english country garden is a short secret pathway away with space to enjoy bbq's or just relaxing.
Great for a stop over to/from Dorset/Devon/ Cornwall. 25 mins from Bristol Airport. Larger groups can book both Upper and Lower Beeches. (up to 12 guests)

Guest access

The apartment is spread over 2 floors and is accessible up a flight of stairs; the second stairwell is narrow into an open-plan area. Our 'sister property' Lower Beeches has stair free access and a ground floor double bedroom.
Upper Beeches has plenty of storage space for bicycles etc.
Guests also have access to the Walled Garden which is a short 2 min walk away - a lovely, secluded space for barbecues or just relaxing on a sunny afternoon and evening.

Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights with family. Communication from Amanda was great and thank you for the welcome pack. The bread was amazing! Had a great meal in the local pub which is only a few mins walking distance. Highly recommended Upper Beeches. Thanks again Amanda x

Amanda has a really lovely apartment with flexible accommodation which suited us really well as we had both a toddler and a baby, and three adults. It was clean and comfortable and had everything you would expect. There is a very beautiful hidden garden for the guests if you care to venture out and find it!

Amanda and Rob's cottages are great. My husband and our two teenage children stayed in Upper Beeches and it was so attractive, comfortable and well-appointed - they've thought of everything. We don't have young children, but I was really impressed by all the baby equipment available, from cots and stairgates to changing mats. The decor is clean and modern with lots of nice finishing touches, like the stunning vase of sunflowers which greeted us. I was pleased to find a really well-equipped kitchen and lovely welcome basket with fresh homebread bread, tea, coffee, butter, jam etc. We had beds to spare - you could fit two families in fairly easily, although sharing one bathroom may be a bit tricky, but a group could happily fit into the two cottages. The secret walled garden is divine, really charming, and I was told to help myself to windfall apples, thanks Amanda :-) It's got a BBQ and loungers, table and chairs, all you could need. We had a great stay, it's a really lovely area of Somerset with masses to do. I totally recommend Upper Beeches.

We stayed at Upper Beeches as a base for a trip to Longleat. We were 2 couples with a 2 year old and a baby and the space was more than big enough for our group. Amanda and Rob have made it very child friendly, as its split over 3 levels with additions of stair gates, travel cot, highchair & bed rails which helped us to travel a bit lighter. The garden is beautiful just a shame we didn't get much time to make the most of it. Great location with a very friendly local pub 2 mins walk up the road and a little park the kids enjoyed a short walk away. Would def recommend for a family or small group

Rob and I decided to move to Somerset three years ago from London/Herts, happened upon Oakhill and we love it! We enjoy spending time with our three daughters, two who have left the nest and one still at primary school; we appreciate theatre like Kneehigh and Complicite, walking in the Mendips, singing in the village choir, socialising and being hospitable. We take our own opinions and beliefs lightly. We want a dog.
