My place is close to great views, historic Rutherford Island, Damariscotta shopping, dining, and small town charm, the beach, the best antiquing, and quintessential Maine in the summer.. You’ll love my place because of the view, the charm of an original 200 year old home, the friendly neighbors, the great local food and flavor, the peace and stillness, "the gut" fishing inlet..

The space

This building is the original Thompson Inn (that the road was named after) built in 1840. It has a lot of great history! It is indeed rustic, however, and in need of some renovating. A summer home that is clean and comfortable but nothing fancy.

Interaction with guests

We are available to guests whenever they need us. We are hands-on owners who are sad to miss the summer here but love this house and location more than anything. Any questions or concerns, just call or email and we are happy to address any of your needs.

We found Ana's house to be incredibly comfortable & clean. All 4 bedrooms are luxurious with queen beds and closet space. Huge living & dining rooms that are beautifully decorated. The kitchen is also well-equipped. It was a wonderful respite for our family while celebrating our son's wedding. Despite being somewhere in hurricane territory, Ana was very quick to respond to our questions. We highly recommend this property!

Ana's house is charming, comfortable and beautifully decorated with wonderful art and antiques. Neighbors are friendly and welcoming. The house is about 20 minutes from a supermarket or town center but Osier's is a 5 minute walk, perfect for lunch and emergency convenience store groceries. The lobster pound down the way is good fun and the Island grocery has delicious baked goods for breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer!

This was our second year at this wonderful house and it was even better than the first. The house is beautiful and unspoiled, just set back from the harbor - it is quiet and peaceful; a highlight is sitting on the deck watching the boats. The house is exactly as described and the pictures are accurate - the furnishings are lovely and comfortable and the house has everything needed for a great stay. We have seven- and nine-year old boys who love playing outside in the garden and walking down to the lobster pound. Ana is a perfect host - very responsive to any messages or questions and clearly excited to share her gorgeous house with guests. We could not have been happier and look forward to returning.

We spent a wonderful week at Ana and Sean lovely home, and loved every minute! It is a fantastic historic home, beautifully restored and maintained where you can completely relax in a fantastic setting. We loved the space, the bedrooms, nice big dining area and fully stocked kitchen, and wonderful deck overlooking the harbor. We would come back again and again!

This house was one of our stand-out accommodation experiences on our three week US trip. The house is charming. It's old. With a lovely first floor terrace off the larger bedroom and a ground floor terrace off the open-plan kitchen dining area. The ground floor terrace is south facing and overlooks the harbour. The house doesn't have A/C but that didn't bother us one jot - it was lovely sleeping with the windows open and with a sea breeze. There was always hot water with great water pressure in the shower. We enjoyed walking from the house - the lobster co-op is a few minutes in one direction (highly recommended as they will cook them for you and you can eat rustic-style on the terrace). Walking the other way over to the island was delightful and our children loved Christmas Cove swimming pool (longish walk or short drive). Overall a fantastic experience and highly recommended!

We had such a wonderful stay in Ana's house in South Bristol. The location was peaceful and relaxed. The house was exactly as described in the listing - rustic, but in a charming way. We wouldn't have changed a thing.

Ana's place was fantastic. The location was quiet and beautiful and great for exploring the coast from Acadia down to Portland. When we come back to Maine, I will definitely check to see if this place is available. Also, Ana was a wonderful host. I had a few questions during the stay and she was great about answering them quickly and precisely.

We are new home owners who want to share our beautiful ocean house. We enjoy traveling often and staying in homes rather than sterile hotels. We have opened every home we've ever had up to fellow travelers and always had wonderful experiences!
