Our 3 bedroom, 2 bath place is conveniently located on the north end of Durango in the quiet and historic Animas City neighborhood. The home has contemporary finishes and a great yard in a walkable neighborhood. The home is minutes from downtown Durango, multiple trails, great restaurants and coffee shops, as well as the local recreation center, grocery store, and historical museum. Our place is good for couples, business travelers, and perfect for families (with kids).

The space
Welcome to Durango!
We love our little place in the world and hope that you will feel the same. Our home was built in the 1950's and was remodeled in 2014 using environmentally friendly finishes including high efficiency lighting and heating, zero-VOC paints and carpeting, and water conserving fixtures. We use green cleaning products whenever possible to clean the space and do not allow smoking inside.
The kitchen, dining, and living spaces are open concept and perfect for hanging out with the family. The kitchen is well stocked with spices and all the kitchen gear that you need to cook an awesome meal. There is a gas burning fireplace in the living room as well as a cable-connected TV, DVD player and docking station.
Our two year old loves the little playroom with a chalkboard wall, puzzles, and some great books.
There are 3 bedrooms. The master has a king bed, ceiling fan, and dresser for your use. The closet in this room is locked however there is closet space located in the foyer.
The master bath has a bathtub/shower and high efficiency fixtures. This bath does not adjoin the master bedroom and is shared with the upstairs room.
The upstairs "studio" has two beds that can be configured as a couch or as twin beds. This space has a closet, television with cable, and a window air conditioning unit for guest comfort.
The third bedroom has a queen sized bed, a ceiling fan as well as a closet and several available dresser drawers.
The second bathroom is located next to this bedroom and features a glass enclosed shower and high efficiency fixtures.
Like most homes in our climate we do not have air conditioning so the space can get hot in the day time. We provide fans and directions on how to make the most of the cool nighttime temperatures to keep the space comfortable. The upstairs room does have a window AC unit.
Our favorite part of our home is the yard. From the living room sliding doors you step out onto the patio which is shaded by a grapevine covered trellis. We have a table that seats six and a lounging spot in front of the dining room windows that seats two. Most of the yard is covered in lush grass and the view to the east is of Durango's famous Missionary Ridge. Our City of Durango permit number is #16-079.
We do have a shaggy dog who lives on the premises. We clean with a HEPA-filtered vacuum, but if you're allergic to dogs this probably isn't the house for you.

Guest access
Guests will not have access to the garage. If you have bikes or other equipment you are welcome to lock them up in the front yard with your own lock or leave them locked on your vehicle. We consider our neighborhood to be very safe but you never know.
We also have several closets and our son's room that are locked off- please respect these spaces and do not try to access them.

Our neighborhood Animas City is one of the oldest in town. It's an eclectic place with lots of families and good folks. If you want to learn about area history, the Animas City Museum is a block away. There are multiple restaurants, a brewery, and coffee shops that are within several blocks walking distance. Downtown is a short bike ride or about a 5 minute drive, depending on traffic, easily walkable (between 15-30 minutes depending on your route and walking speed). The Animas City Mountain trail head is 4.5 blocks away and the River Trail, which runs through town, is only a few minutes away. If you're heading north to the mountains our place is on the right end of town.

My husband and young son love our adopted home town of Durango Colorado! We've traveled all over the world, mostly with a backpack, and our favorite experiences have been seeing places through the eyes of the people who live there. I love the perspective and gratitude that traveling brings- there's nothing like stepping outside of your comfort zone into someone else's!I I especially love the mountains, the desert, and interesting communities. Favorite places include Nepal, Italy, SE Asia, Brazil, San Francisco CA, Moab UT, Telluride CO and so many more... I hope the list will grow and grow! I speak a tiny bit of Spanish and have a life goal of becoming fluent.
