Our lovely flat in the heart of idyllic Arisaig in the highlands has fabulous views to the Atlantic and small Isles of Eigg & Rhum, is a perfect holiday for two with wi-fi, close to pubs, restaurants, rail, boats, great beaches, walking & wildlife.
Our lovely flat is adjoining the main house, although completely self-contained and totally private. It has it's own separate entrance, private parking as well as access directly to private gardens. Its elevated position gives spectacular views to the sea. The flat is fully equipped for convenience, including large 32" tv, with humax player & dvd library, cd/ipod player and dock, and wi-fi. The kitchen has all appliances and the bedroom is bright, comfortable, with queen sized brass bed and plenty of storage space.
Guests are within walking distance of Arisaig village front, including the marina with regular crossings to the small isles, the main-line station linking to Mallaig, Fort William, as well as a direct link to Glasgow & London Euston. Arisaig Hotel is a short distance for bar meals and traditional live music. The Old Library Restaurant offers fine dining, and Cafe Rhue is great for lunch and supper. There is also a village Spa with ATM & Post Office, and a heritage centre. Arisaig Hotel is also a kayaking centre, offering half or full day guided trips, or equipment hire for the more experienced paddler. The fishing port of Mallaig is eight miles away, or two stops on the famous west coast railway, for shopping, dining and the ferry to Skye, Inverie or Knoydart. Along that eight mile stretch are the fabulous white sands of Morar and dunes of Camusdarach Beach. On the west coast you will experience the tranquility of our most spectacular coast-line as well as true highland hospitality.
Interaction with guests
Guests are totally private, but owners Fiona & Michael are easily on hand should there be any difficulties or just recommendations.
Other things to note
We are happy to accept small, well behaved dogs by arrangement if they will sleep in your car or our kitchen. There is absolutely no smoking in the house. We keep free range chickens and can provide an endless supply of free range eggs. Wi-fi is available from our home-hub - but it goes off at 11pm so there's no surfing through the night. Due to our location, water pressure is OK, but not powerful.
We would expect you to behave in a way that you would expect us to if we were visiting your home. The flat can only accommodate two people. We do not accept extra guests.
Fiona & Michael run an outdoor shop, Wayoutwest, from an old boathouse in the Port of Mallaig on the west coast of scotland. They live in Arisaig and have four children aged 8 to 18 yrs and a small cairn terrier dog. Their small flat, ideally suited to a couple, adjoins their property and is set in large gardens overlooking the Sound of Arisaig. "We love to meet new people, but our lifestyle, particularly during the summer months, means we are really low intervention hosts as we're working most of the time. However we're close to hand should you have any queries or need local information. Our guest seem to like our flat a lot and the vibe is very easygoing and relaxed. We want you to have a great time".
