Passive house certified and winner of Leed project of the year, the Strawberry House (named by our daughter) has huge windows looking onto a field of milkweed and wildflowers. The property is 4 acres and very private; the road is walled off by a thick border of foliage. Behind us is only woods and there are miles of lovely nature trails accessed from the bottom of our field. It's only a 2 mile drive to the center of town (specifically Chase's Daily and their amazing cherry tarts). Enjoy!

The space

Our house is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and completely passive. We have no heating bills in the winter, and sell back as much electricity (stove, lights) as we use with our solar panels. Our water is heated on the roof, so you can enjoy guilt free hot showers! As a crucial part of our tiny carbon footprint, there is NO air-conditioning. The windows all swing open for maximum ventilation, and there are large size fans in all the bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a wonderfully comfortable king size memory foam mattress on a low platform bed.
The kid's room has 2 twin beds- one of which is up a ladder. Twin beds are standard size- 75 ".
The third room upstairs can function as either a bedroom- there's a queen folding foam mattress with linens- or as a yoga/exercise studio with mats and blocks.
There's a full bath upstairs with shower and tub, and a powder room downstairs.
The kitchen is well equipped- there's a Vitamix (the world's most powerful blender for smoothies and bulletproof coffee), french press, Bellman espresso maker with milk steamer for lattes, large size cuisinart, and dishwasher.
The space is bright, airy, and comfortable with an open floor plan.
We're not large screen tv people, but there is high speed wifi for easy streaming.
Outside is a mega play structure for kids to climb, swing, and slide on while you relax on the double wide hammock! There are also lots of kids books, toys, and games.
In the bottom SE corner of the field, below the apple trees, is a pretty trail that goes through the woods, onto a power line, and then loops back through the woods to home.
We do not have cats, as I am allergic.
Dogs are welcomed if they are clean, flea-less, and well-behaved. The property is doggy heaven, as long as you're mindful of the road!

I would say the Strawberry House is as great as advertised. We were first charmed by the pictures when we came across the listing for our trip to Maine so our expectation was highly set. We were still somehow shocked and surprised by the quality of Amy's house and interior design talent when we arrived and saw the interiors in person. Paintings and decorations were thoughtfully placed to enhance the overall atmosphere. It's comfy. It's clean. All the rooms are well lit with natural light. It truly feels like a home away from home. As for location Belfast is one of the older towns where modern technology slowly drained its workforce but the town itself refuses to lose its charisma. Amy's house is 3min drive away from a new strip mall where you could get all the amenities needed. But the real gem is the 6min drive downtown district. Historic and great for a relaxing stroll. The town also has a very friendly population. Props to the house and the Belfast community!

This is an incredible home. The house is thoughtfully designed and beautifully decorated. The wild flowers outside make for an idyllic setting to escape city life. Add a cup of coffee and a good book and you have yourself the perfect getaway. It's also easy to get to adorable Maine coastal towns like Camden for some quintessential New England life/food. Highly recommend.

Great house in a very central location. Easy access to a lot of the beautiful locations the State has to offer, amazing for families- especially with little girls as their is a huge play structure outside and a big playroom full of the most amazing books and toys. Restaurants in town are great for foodies - we had our best Italian meal outside of Italy. Cool perk is that the house is very green with solar panels for heating, compost etc. It was very hot during our stay and the kids room was a bit hard to cool off even with the fans and window because of the large window front. The parents room and yoga room got very comfy for sleeping though.

The strawberry house is beautiful and cozy. The view of wild flowers from the windows was so peaceful. It was great to unplug and enjoy our surroundings. We also enjoyed downtown Belfast, lots of cute shops, restaurants and a brewery :)

We had a lovely, dreamy midsummer stay at Amy's place. It was great to learn about this kind of house and its modern technologies. The location was fantastic- secluded, but still less than 10 minutes from the grocery store, downtown area, ocean, dog park, and more! We loved gazing out at the wildflowers through huge windows every morning while sipping our coffee. Kitchen is well stocked and barbecue is great- we were able to make some tasty meals of fresh caught fish and lobster, and incorporate some of the fresh veggies from the garden. Wifi was fast and reliable. We also enjoyed walking our dog through the trails in the fields and forest that make up this beautiful property. We highly recommend this spot!

Perfect house for a family vacation. Set on a beautiful, private plot of land surrounded by nature. Perfect for big summer dinners in the garden. I would highly recommend this home to others.

Amy User ProfileAmy is a superhost.

I grew up in Ojai California, and as much I love the west coast, decided to raise my kids in the beautiful and down to earth state of Maine. My husband Riley is an architect at the firm that built and designed our house. I'm a painter (as you'll see all over the walls if you come), a family chef, yoga teacher, triathlete, surfer and sailor. Or something like that. Anyway- I like to do a lot of stuff. It's fun.
