Passive house certified and winner of Leed project of the year, the Strawberry House (named by our daughter) has huge windows looking onto a field of milkweed and wildflowers. The property is 4 acres and very private; the road is walled off by a thick border of foliage. Behind us is only woods and there are miles of lovely nature trails accessed from the bottom of our field. It's only a 2 mile drive to the center of town (specifically Chase's Daily and their amazing cherry tarts). Enjoy!
Our house is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and completely passive. We have no heating bills in the winter, and sell back as much electricity (stove, lights) as we use with our solar panels. Our water is heated on the roof, so you can enjoy guilt free hot showers! As a crucial part of our tiny carbon footprint, there is NO air-conditioning. The windows all swing open for maximum ventilation, and there are large size fans in all the bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a wonderfully comfortable king size memory foam mattress on a low platform bed.
The kid's room has 2 twin beds- one of which is up a ladder. Twin beds are standard size- 75 ".
The third room upstairs can function as either a bedroom- there's a queen folding foam mattress with linens- or as a yoga/exercise studio with mats and blocks.
There's a full bath upstairs with shower and tub, and a powder room downstairs.
The kitchen is well equipped- there's a Vitamix (the world's most powerful blender for smoothies and bulletproof coffee), french press, Bellman espresso maker with milk steamer for lattes, large size cuisinart, and dishwasher.
The space is bright, airy, and comfortable with an open floor plan.
We're not large screen tv people, but there is high speed wifi for easy streaming.
Outside is a mega play structure for kids to climb, swing, and slide on while you relax on the double wide hammock! There are also lots of kids books, toys, and games.
In the bottom SE corner of the field, below the apple trees, is a pretty trail that goes through the woods, onto a power line, and then loops back through the woods to home.
We do not have cats, as I am allergic.
Dogs are welcomed if they are clean, flea-less, and well-behaved. The property is doggy heaven, as long as you're mindful of the road!
The whole house and private 4 acres is yours.

I grew up in Ojai California, and as much I love the west coast, decided to raise my kids in the beautiful and down to earth state of Maine. My husband Riley is an architect at the firm that built and designed our house. I'm a painter (as you'll see all over the walls if you come), a family chef, yoga teacher, triathlete, surfer and sailor. Or something like that. Anyway- I like to do a lot of stuff. It's fun.
