My place is close to the beach, restaurants and dining, parks, art and culture, and great views. You’ll love my place because of the location, the ambiance, the neighborhood, the outdoors space, and the people. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.

The space

The Gristmill was built in 1862 and ground grain into flour. It operated until 1946 and was made into a home in 1948. There is a pond, a waterfall, an island with a gazebo. Yes, the water still passes through the house! We purchased the home in 1998 and fulfilled a childhood dream of mine to own this amazing place where I fished as a child.

Guest access

You will be able to use the front apartment, with a view of the fountain in the pond and a window that opens over the waterfall. There is a separate entrance to the apartment and a locked door that leads to the main house.

Interaction with guests

We will be happy to answer any questions you have during your stay.

Jeff's place was the perfect weekend retreat! It was cozy and close to downtown TC. Easily able to head downtown and to all of the local wineries. Jeff was incredibly friendly and was able to offer suggestions on places to eat close by. His dogs were adorable too !

We loved seeing the fish in the creek next to the Gristmill. Very cool and we felt apart of nature. Jeff and Jodi were very accommodating and responded quickly to all of our questions.

The Gristmill Apartment is the place to stay in Traverse City! It is a quaint, beautiful place that we would recommend to anyone. Jeffrey was easy to get a hold of and answered all of our questions. Be sure to check out the fish and watch them jump around in the river under the house! It was such a relaxing, comfortable place to stay and we'll be back!

Jeffrey and his wife were phenomenal hosts and were easy to correspond with prior to the trip and were outstanding when we arrived. Explore the backyard where there's a path to a bridge and a gazebo. Also, make sure to keep the lights off and take a look at the night sky, a really fantastic place.
