The Penthouse is a cool spot located very close to Downtown Eau Claire's shops, restaurants, and bars. It's a 15 minute drive from the music festival grounds (Eaux Claires, Blue Ox, Country Jam) and a 7 minute drive from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. You’ll love our place because of it's coziness, eclectic decor, safe neighborhood, and convenient location. All are welcome at The Penthouse, even furry friends!

The space
The Penthouse is the cozy, affordable, and sunny upper apartment of our duplex. Located right across from a school and just up the hill from downtown, it's in a great central location for whatever may bring you to town. It has a fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable living room, two spacious bedrooms, and a nice bathroom with a full shower/tub. It also has a large backyard with your own deck area and access to a shared fire pit.

The house was built in 1891 and has been refurbished into a nice and modern space, while still retaining much of its "old house" charm. We work hard to provide a clean and comfortable Airbnb, but want all guests to know before booking that our home is over 125 years old. While it has been maintained with care, the feel of our space is not like that of a hotel. We love this about The Penthouse - there is plenty of charm and a relaxed, cozy feel. It's truly a home away from home! However, if you are looking for a vacation home, hotel amenities, or a luxurious feel, our place probably isn't for you.

-Everything you need to cook while you stay (Minus the food, of course! We have plates, bowls, glasses, pots, pans, silverware, utensils, etc.)

The Penthouse is up the hill from Eau Claire's thriving downtown area in a charming older, well-maintained neighborhood, just across from an elementary school. We love the energy the school brings.

Walk two blocks to Sue's award-winning Bake Shop or bike the trail system from our house along the river bank to Phoenix Park, the scenic confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers.

In the summer months, Phoenix Park is the put-in site for tubing down the river and also hosts a weekly farmers' market and Music in the Park, which draw in thousands of people each weekend. For the adventurous traveler, we can direct you to a nearby secret beach complete with a rope swing.

In colder months, take a jaunt over the wooden walking bridge to Boyd Park which has ice skating, ice sculptures, and weekly late night bonfires. Or cozy up to some world-class jazz at one of our favorite spots - The Lakely, just down the hill.

There's something for everyone in Eau Claire and we are in a central location to just about all of it!

We are two adventurers living in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who love to travel and love to host. Joining Airbnb has been one of the best decisions we've made!

We are artists, outdoor enthusiasts, and adventure seekers who met at UW-Eau Claire, got married in February of 2016, and have been hosting guests in our duplex ever since. We both are pursuing creative careers. Gabe is a musician and has a band called Waldemar and a recording studio called Journeyman. He also restores and refinishes hardwood floors throughout the Chippewa Valley. Mikelle is a floral designer and has a wedding floral business called Fersk Floral Artistry. When we aren't working, we love watching documentaries, playing cribbage, camping, or curling up with a good book. We have two friendly kitties, Huck and Millie, and are expecting our first baby in March 2022!

As hosts - Eau Claire is our favorite place and makes a wonderful home. Having lived here for many years, we enjoy sharing insider tips of the must sees and dos with our guests. We can't wait to meet you and hope you love your time in Eau Claire!
