Notown Cottage is our family home, built in 1810, however your lounge & mezzanine bedroom with ensuite shower room are a spacious contemporary addition. You have your own entrance, with key, to your private wing of the house, including a sunny space to sit outside.
Off-road parking, free WIFI and hot drink facilities are available. The village pub & quaint tearooms are just a few minutes walk away. We've lived here for over 20 years & would love to share our knowledge of the area with you.
We are delighted to offer a wing of our family home for you to enjoy. It includes a spacious lounge, dining area with comfy, soft corner sofa for you to collapse in front of the TV or with a book at the end of your day. There's a huge table that can be used as a work/office desk. Its also where we serve your home-cooked breakfast. The unique feature of this space is your mezzanine bedroom and ensuite that benefits from 5 metres of floor-to-ceiling height windows so you can gaze at the stars, or be mesmerised by floating clouds. The windows mean there is lots of light (we provide silk eye masks for those who require them). In the winter months you will be kept warm and toasty with underfloor heating, allowing you to wander in bare foot on gorgeous slate tiles.
Your French doors open out on to a private decked area which you are free to use to soak up the sun. You are most welcome to join us outside for a glass of wine when the sun is shining.
You have your own private access through French doors directly into your accommodation.
Interaction with guests
You have a kettle to make hot drinks, however, if you need anything further I am often to be found in the kitchen adjacent to your space, so feel free to ask.
Other things to note
If I am free, I am happy to pick up from railway stations and take you out and about so you can enjoy the area.
This is a quiet country village setting, and so we ask everyone to respect our neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum when entering and leaving our cottage.
Louise Luiggi - I acquired this very exotic surname from my Corsican / French husband Stéphane. We're a bilingual family - you'll hear us switching between French and English quite frequently. In true Gallic style, we love cooking and fresh, seasonal food, in fact we own a restaurant in Nottingham called French Living! You will discover a relaxed, laid-back, busy home at Notown, with the kitchen as the hub, continuously producing food, particularly for our teenage, tennis playing son. French radio plays as Stef cooks; in fact you have access to all French TV channels in your lounge. Notown is a pretty unusual place to stay - a wonderful blend of English cottage with French rustic gite!
