We loved our stay in this house! We have stayed in some top-line hotels on a few islands (including Oahu), and the experience of staying in this beach house was far better than staying in a hotel! The beach was perfect for boogie boarding, kids playing in the sand, and morning …

I am so glad your family felt so at home in our beach house. Can't wait to have you back. I have great memories growing up with my sisters walking the beach, playing and boogie boarding at Malaekahana and sounds like your kids will as well.

David’s place is a great place in a great location. It is on a main road but very quiet with a sense of privacy. It was wonderful having easy beach access from the property. It was enough room for our party of seven. We would definitely stay again. Brynn was a great point of…

David's house was perfect. The house is spacious, clean and had everything we needed on hand. We had prebooked for Kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards and snorkeling gear to be delivered right to our house. The sandy bottom beach in front was perfect to for swimming, kayaking and …

I am so glad you and your family enjoyed your time at Malaekahana Christine. We are very fortunate to have the beach in front of our house that we do. It is unusual to find other beaches in Hawaii (and even on other parts of Malaekahana bay) with gentle waves and a sandy bottom. You are always welcome back and as a returning guest, ask about our Hana Hou (one more time) discount.

All of life has its pros and cons, and this vacation home was the same. I want to admit that I was a bit surprised at Hawaii in general- the standards of cleanliness, maintenance, design, etc… are much lower in general than in New England where I am from (Cape Cod, specifically) …

Response from David:
Thank you for your helpful feedback Dee. I am sorry things weren't up to your expectations. Some are things we can and will take care of. Others are part of vacationing on the beach in Hawaii. In both cases, I appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Regarding the yard, we are very fortunate to have such a large property on the beach in Hawaii. The paddle tennis court is under renovation. Unfortunately, this takes time and I am sorry it wasn't in playable condition for your stay. The "painful pine cones" you refer to are from the ironwood trees that boder the East side of the property. As you point out, either slipers or going to the beach from the West side of the property is the way to address this. Regarding our caretaker, he is very considerate of our guests. Most guests appreciate his intimate knowledge of the island and his recommendations. Just a word to guide him will let him know and he will respect this. Regarding the screens, thank for the heads up. We will have any torn or missing screens replaced. Regarding the pantry, point well taken. There are a lot of "extras" we use when entertaining out there but as we are doing much less of that now, we can thin this out and keep only what is necessary. Regarding the fly's, this is very unusual, especially with the strong tradewinds it sounds like you had. Regarding the TV, I understand. We don't subscribe to these services as the vast majority of our guests enjoy the beach and outdoors. Regarding hot water, as you correctly point out, it is a solar-assisted hot water system. I've not heard similar complaints about lack of hot water from other guests but we will check the configuration and make sure nothing got accidently misconfigured. Regrding the beach, we are so fortunate to have a wide, sandy beach in front of our house. This is very unusual in Hawaii and as I am sure you saw, on the other parts of Malaekahana Bay. The surf can be rough, especially in Jan-Mar when you visited but most of the time, it is very gentle as there is a barrier reef protecting the entire bay. Again, thank you for takign the time to provide use with your feedback. Mahalo, David

We were residents in Hawaii since before statehood and recently relocated to the mainland to be closer to family.
