Our place is part of a two cottage compound located on lovely Lake Iroquois near Hinesburg, Vermont. It is a beautiful, comfortable, spacious, well equipped studio cabin with queen bed, full kitchenette, wood stove, and a large deck in a wooded area steps from the lake. It is close to Burlington and major tourist sites such as Stowe, Ben & Jerry's and Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. Kayaks, canoe, rowboat, large dock. Light breakfast provisions for first two days and daily coffee provided.

The space

The cabin has been in the family for 65 years and is co-owned by two sisters (Demi and Madeline) but managed by Bill and Madeline Hamblin. The studio cabin was built as a writers studio and built by father Chad Walsh who introduced the American public to C.S. Lewis with his book, "C.S. Lewis, Apostle to the Skeptics."

Guest access

Guests have complete use of the grounds (parking, dock, firepit, boats).

Interaction with guests

We will be in the big cottage and available if needed. We give our guests as much privacy as they wish.

Madeline's place was perfect for a weekend getaway in Vermont! The location was very accessible to places that we were trying to see, making it easy to travel to and from Burlington and Stowe. My boyfriend and I loved the private and relaxing atmosphere, which made us feel right at home. Madeline and Bill were very accommodating hosts, especially because they showed us around the grounds at night when we arrived. We are hoping to visit again when it's warm, so we can experience the beauty of the lake!

We had a great time at Madeline and Bill's cozy cottage. They were always available if we had any questions but gave us privacy otherwise. They've got some great suggestions on things to do in the area. It is wonderfully quiet and dark in the cottage at night, very peaceful and relaxing. The lake was beautiful although it was a little too chilly to go out on it. Instead, we were able to find a ton to do in nearby Burlington. The wood fireplace was very cute and effectively warmed the room. Great weekend getaway!

Madeline and Bill were great hosts and they have such a beautiful property. We enjoyed all they had to offer including swimming, canoeing and fishing. The cottage was exactly what we needed for a small getaway and they were right there in case of any emergency. It was a perfect mix for seclusion and close to all the local attractions in stowe and burlington. We enjoyed their hospitality greatly. Thank you for a great few days in Vermont !

Madeline & Bill's lake cottage was the perfect retreat to celebrate our anniversary. The location couldn't have been more picturesque, and we loved swimming in the lake, borrowing the canoe, relaxing in the hammock, and grilling on the deck. Also very convenient to Burlington. The provided breakfast was such a thoughtful touch too!

Madeline and Bill were fantastic hosts. The cabin was the perfect place to stay during our adventures in VT. They were always available if we had a question, and they keep the cabin well stocked with everything you could need. Whether you're looking for a lakeside getaway or a nice quiet cozy place to stay while doing things in the area, we highly recommended this spot. Hopefully next summer we can return and enjoy more of the lake! Also our pup Ed gives 2 paws up on this place. Thanks again Madeline and Bill!

Madeline's cabin is the perfect size for 2 people. Its location is great for some time away from the world and is very beautiful. Madeline herself is a great host. She showed us around when we arrived and even provided some food and drinks for breakfast. She keeps the building very clean and we had no problems with the amenities during our stay.

Hi Daniel and Jess, you were great guests and we wish you the best as you begin a new stage in your lives - matrimony!

Madeline and Bill were excellent hosts with great communication, making us feel welcome and plenty of nice touches in their cozy cabin especially the wood stove which we used. It was nice to get to know them a little while we explored the greater Burlington area. The cabin was far enough from the city to feel remote yet convenient to the city for all it has to offer. Thank you for a great time!

Response from Madeline:
Hugh, it was really nice getting to know you and Basia. We're glad you could still do so much in the area despite the poor weather. Glad that the wood stove kept you cozy!
