What a beautiful experience. Matteo’s place is quite secluded from the civilisation so if you want some escapism, this place is for you. The vineyard is beautiful and their red wine is pretty amazing. The Saturday dinner at their restaurant is filled with locals and the food served is mighty delicious, not to mention how cheap it is. Service is very impressive. Matteo, his brother and his dad made us extremely happy and we will come back in the future for sure.

When you arrive the area you can't believe is that beautiful! Your in the middle of a vineyard, with a view to a valley... so quiet, so chill and only 20 min from Verona. Tnx Matteo! For the help and the lovely service.

This is a brilliant (and beautiful) place to spend a night or two, or, as I did, use as a base to explore the Veneto region. Matteo and his dad, Claudio, are wonderfully hospitable people. The rooms are actually small studio apartments with ensuite shower room, and a small induction hob for cooking. The beds are very comfortable (two singles joined or as a double room). Very reasonably priced. There is a picnic table outside and a couple of sun loungers. Place to hang washing round the back. Two very old, but still spry doggies who do a barking act when they first see you, but are really actually friendly. Briciola (BREECHola) (it means "Crumb") is the wee white(ish) one, and Pluto (as in Disney!) is the slightly larger brown one. Go for a walk with them down the tractor paths :) . There is a LIDL supermarket just after you come off the autostrada. If you're going to eat in the apartment. DON'T buy wine! The local white is Soave and the red is Valpolicella. Claudio will sell you a bottle MUCH cheaper (and better - he blends his Valpolicella with Cabernet Sauvignon 50/50 and it's wonderfully drinkable!). Just ask him - he speaks very little English, so here's the important part: "Posso comprare una bottiglia di vino rosso/bianco?" pronounced "Posso comPRAHry oona boTEELya dee VEEno RAWsso/beeYANko?" "Can I buy a bottle of red/white wine?" I'd go for the red myself! Saturday lunch and dinnertime, and Sunday lunch (till about 4pm), part of the farmhouse turns into a restaurant - good, basic country food and excellent wine at very affordable prices. It's very popular with people in the area. Unless you're a committed trekker, you'll need a car. To get here, come by train to Verona and pick up a hire car there (plenty of online companies - cheapest to book well in advance). If you're early enough, you can do a quick half-day tour of the town - the Roman Theatre/Arena is definitely the main attraction, the marketplace (Piazza delle Erbe) area is nice, and, if you really have to, "Juliet's House" with THAT balcony is 5 minutes away from there. Your car probably won't have a satnav, so (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps is essential (and much better in my experience). Remember to bring a charger adapter for the car so that your phone will still have plenty of charge for taking holiday photos! The main motorway to practically everywhere in the region is the A4 autostrada. You pick up a ticket when you enter, and pay when you exit - you can also buy a "VIA" advance ticket, in advance, online - which is supposed to be cheaper. The pay booths accept notes and coins (and give change), and most accept credit/debit cards too. Make sure you get in the right lane (wee picture of someone handing over money). Places to visit: SOAVE - small but beautifully formed! This is a truly wonderful little town, with nice cafés, restaurants,...
