Experience glamping, Blue Ridge style. Our luxury yurt is located at the top of a small hill, in the center of a 70 acre farmstead surrounded by natural beauty.

The property is located off a quiet country road in Afton, Nelson County. It is private, but not remote. You are close to the Brew Ridge trail, wineries, breweries, skiing at Wintergreen, Blue Mountain Brewery, Devil's Backbone, golf, hiking, or driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hike or bike directly from the Yurt up into the mountains!

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: The road to the Yurt is rutted and bumpy. It is best suited to all wheel, high clearance, or 4 wheel drive vehicles, especially in the winter in the snow. Please do not book if you don't think you can get up the road. Prius owners, I'm looking at you.

Glamping at it finest. Enjoy a relaxing stay in our Yurt in the heart of the Blue Ridge and feel the stress of daily life slip away.

The Yurt is 30 feet in diameter with 10 foot walls. It's a total of 720 square feet with a cozy bedroom and a sleeping loft. It has heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a bathroom with a claw foot tub with shower, fresh linens and towels, and an open living/dining area with a wood stove. It boosts a large 400 square foot deck with lovely views of the pond and the Blue Ridge mountains.

Take advantage of all that the surrounding area has to offer including hiking, skiing, antiques, farmer's market, restaurants, live music, and all the wineries, breweries, and cideries along the Brew Ridge Trail. Or just hang out at the fully equipped Yurt. Kick back with a glass of wine from one of the local wineries and watch the sunset, dine al fresco on the large deck, enjoy the stars from the hot tub tucked in a secluded grove of trees nearby, cozy up to a fire in the wood stove (seasonal), enjoy a fire or roast marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit (bring your own wood!), grill (but NEVER on the deck or too close to the yurt, please!), watch a movie, listen to records, get up early and watch the sunrise over the mountains, hike directly from the Yurt to Humpback Rocks and the Appalachian Trail, or enjoy fishing, paddle boating (seasonal), and swimming in the spring fed 2 acre pond.

The yurt is located on the same property as our farmhouse (about 300 yards away) on a quiet country road with less than 10 houses. The Yurt is surrounded by open pasture and a few trees. You can see the Farmhouse from the Yurt but it's a good distance away. The trees provide privacy.

Paulie's Pig Out about 2 miles away on 151. Yummy barbeque with tasty sides, especially the mac and cheese.

Traeger Brother's Coffee located in the Rockfish Valley Community Center on 151. Local roasters based in Lovingston, VA. Fair trade organic coffee. Check out the Treasure Chest thrift store while you're there!

Blue Mountain Brewery, about 6 miles away. Beautiful mountain views and yummy pizza.

Nellysford Farmer's Market. 6 miles away. Saturday mornings 9am-12 noon. May through October. Awesome market with a lovely selection of local food. Live music.

Wintergreen Resort. 17 miles away. Live music in the summer, lots of activities year round, skiing in the winter.

Tuckahoe Antiques, located on 151 just before Nellysford. Nice selection of antiques and collectibles.

Bold Rock Cidery, 7 miles away. A lovely setting to enjoy a glass of award winning cider. Or take it to go and enjoy it on the deck of the Yurt. Blue Toad Cidery is a few more miles up the road.

Veritas Winery, my favorite winery in the area. Starry Nights live music in the summer and farm to table dinners all year round. Highly recommend!

Trail Rides at Rebel's Run, Afton Mountain Road. Mimi, the owner is awesome and her horses are beautiful and well tempered.

Devil's Backbone Brewery and Restaurant is 7 miles away in Nellysford. Great apres-ski on Friday and Saturday evening in the ski season and beautiful grounds and outdoor seating.

Cardinal Point winery is about 10 minutes away and has a nice tasting room and outdoor patio.

Hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway is about 30 minutes away. There are some fantastic views and sunset spots that are only 2 miles from the trail head.

In summer, hike to the slippery rocks in Stony Creek - only a 15 minute drive and 20 minute walk. Slip and slide on the natural water slide and splash into the tub.

During the music festival season LOCK'N and the Festy are 30 minutes away in Arrington.

We can arrange for a private yoga lesson or massages at the Yurt if you're interested.

We left the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn 8 years ago looking for greener pastures and found ourselves in beautiful Nelson County. We bought a run down farm and farmhouse (a diamond in the rough) and have been lovingly restoring it to it's former glory. In the near future, we hope to have animals at the farm. In my spare time, I love to cook, hike, garden, travel, and read.

We live on the property, but give you complete privacy (unless we happen to run into you on the trails or at the pond.) We are available to offer suggestions of things to see and do in the area. We are happy to help in any way we can and want to make your stay with us the best that it can be! Pretty much everything you need to know about the Yurt is on the Airbnb listing or in the blue binder that we keep at the Yurt. We ask that you read it over thoroughly before asking questions that have likely already been answered. We also ask that you respect our family time from 6pm to 9am, unless there is an emergency.
