Come and stay with us down in the beautiful sussex countryside! This spacious open plan apartment is perfect for those looking to escape, rest and rejuvenate. Its peaceful rural location is surrounded by stunning views and only a short drive or walk to the historic town of Rye.

The space

The open plan lay out of the apartment was based on a flat we used to live in in Paris. The bedroom partition has a glass window to allow natural light to flow through the space. The views from the bedroom are outstanding overlooking a Bramley orchard and out across the Sussex landscape.

Guest access

Guests will have the privacy of the apartment which is the whole second floor in a separate building on a 400acre farm. Guests will have access to the farm for walking.

Interaction with guests

One of the hosts will be onsite to welcome you and settle you in then we will be a phone call away for any help.

Other things to note

The apartment is located on a working Sussex apple and sheep farm. The apartment is on the second floor with an outdoor staircase. As we are remote there is very little light pollution so it can be very dark at night. There is an outdoor light at the bottom of the stairs.

Great place to stay, very friendly and helpful hosts who they respected our privacy. Really large comfortable bed, excellent shower and the whole place was well equipped, clean and a great place to relax. Projector and screen for watching DVDs a real bonus! We stayed a week and explored the area which was new to us. Lots of place to visit like Dover Castle, Batemans, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve etc.Walked into Rye one day across the fields - recommend doing that. Check out the supermarket in the village - it has a great range of quality ready meals if you want a break from cooking!

The property is perfect for active elderly people and for romantic couples. It is spacious, comfortable and unique. It is not suited to those who have difficulties climbing stairs. A car is essential. Apart from the farm vehicles you are unlikely other much traffic noise. It is ideally situated to access many places of interest. This includes the historical town of Rye which is 20 minutes drive away. There is quite a lot to see in Rye; the highlight for us was climbing the local church tower and seeing the roof tops of a very old town and the expansive river estuary. Bodiam Castle (National Trust) is about 7 miles away and is well worth a visit and there are other historic buildings and garden a short drive away too. You can get to Canterbury in the car (or go by train), and Leeds Castle within an hour. If you are in to nature then Rye Harbour Nature reserve is free and has very good access to its hides and a easy to manage coastal walks. Dungeness RSPB Nature reserves which in my opinion is even better though it costs to get in, is just over half an hour away in the car. The accommodation is part of a sheep working farm and has extensive apple orchards. Our stay was during the picking season so that was good to see. There are plenty of nearby walks too and you can drive to various river villages if you fancy hiring a small boat. The village, which is very long, rather than compact, has some history too. The Norman church about a 10/15 minutes walk from the accommodation is worth a evening stroll. In the village at the far end there is a large supermarket with a post office and a petrol station selling cheap petrol i.e., 6p a litre cheaper than the petrol stations in Rye. There are a few pubs too, some of which offer very good food. We found the owners were very pleasant and considerate. All in all we had a very satisfactory stay and we hope to visit again in late spring to see newborn lambs gambolling in the fields and hundreds and hundred of apple trees in full blossom!

The cart loft was a perfect place for a weekend away - and the pictures don't do it justice: so cosy and homely, packed with everything you could want - fully equipped kitchen, record player, tv, PlayStation, projector and big screen, huge comfy bed, rain shower, books. All the arrangements and check in were very easy, we wanted for nothing and were made to feel very welcome. Lovely town of Rye is only a short walk away with Hastings another 30 min drive. Thoroughly recommend staying here is you get the chance!

Steve and Mel are warm, friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome. The spacious and airy apartment exceeded our expectations with its huge, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and excellent shower. We enjoyed the peace and beauty of the location. There is lots to do in the area and we would love to come back for another visit to see some of the attractions we couldn't fit in to this visit.

We stayed at this property for 1 night at the start of a week's holiday. It is a very old loft in a farm building which has been excellently converted to provide spacious and tasteful accommodation. It has a good selection of entertainment facilities. It is a beautiful, peaceful setting in farmland - a really good place to unwind. We would certainly go back again and I would highly recommend it.
