I live right up the hill from the Washington Depot and there are numerous places to dine. Close to Steep Rock and plenty of hiking trails. Full kitchen, clawfoot tub, comfy queen bed, private entrance and terrace. I do not have a tv but I have a dvd player and screen and a selection of movies and tv shows. I have a small Oontz bluetooth speaker so you can listen to your own music or podcasts.

The space

The good part is that the apartment is very private, in fact I may not even see you during your stay. The bad part is that I may not even see you during your stay! I like to meet the people that come visit but it doesn't always work out.

Interaction with guests

I am just upstairs and – though not always home – am always available via cell phone to answer any questions. I also have many local maps and guides inside the studio if you are not familiar with the area. It's a beautiful area with many things to do and see!

Frankie’s place was as described. Tucked away in the cutesy and charming Litchfield hills of northern CT. The apartment was spacious and tidy. We enjoyed making dinner with our goodies from the local farmers market and relaxing with a glass of wine on the porch while taking in the foliage after a day of hiking in one of the many nearby state parks! Great trip!

Frankie's place was a great distance from the Elephant's Trunk Flea Market if you are thinking of going. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the appartment because of the amount of bugs all around the apartment. The apartment also smelled very musty and the couch near the tv smelled of urine. The apartment was decorated nicely but the smell greatly detracted from our stay.

Response from Frankie:
I wish I'd known this while they were here so I could have addressed these issues! Have not heard this from any other guests. I vacuum weekly but being in the country we do have our share of bugs and an old house is not the most bug free environment unfortunately. Since I don't have AC in the apartment, on these humid days it's hard to know whether to open windows or not, but not sure why there was an odor. I will certainly investigate.

Frankie is an amazing host. She accommodated several special requests and her place was a quiet haven during a rather frenetic wedding weekend. We recommend highly! Thank you Frankie!

If you're going to a Gunnery reunion and want to stay solo you can't beat this as far a locale goes (like 1 mile away) and price point for what you get, also would make a great writer retreat, and it's near fantastic hiking and the best restaurants. One note, the path to the bungalow apartment from the parking area is a touch rugged so not for the elderly or those with accessibility issues. Overall you can't beat this for the value

Response from Frankie:
Yes, true about the path. And not great for high heels... If you're like me (you like your heels) you can always leave them in the car and wear flip flops for the walk!

I am a graphic designer/art director and design lover. I love design in all forms: type, furniture, interiors, architecture etc. I have lived in CT for 15 years and before that lived in NYC, London, Italy, San Francisco and Santa Barbara.

I have lived in 5 different towns in my time in CT, so I know the area pretty well! Fall is my favorite season, winter is my least favorite... Grew up in southern CA and still crave the warmth and sunshine!

One of my favorite quotes:
Do or do not. There is no try.
