Welcome to The Stables.

Newly refurbished this summer, The Stables sleeps up to six people.

Bedroom one: double bed with en suite bathroom (sleeps two)

Bedroom two: twin room with two single beds and en suite shower room (sleeps two)

Lounge: Sofa becomes a double bed (sleeps two)

We’ve lovingly restored this barn. It’s modern and has no signs of the previous equestrian residents (thankfully) but retains its charm - plus few luxuries!

The space

'The Stables' is newly renovated barn in Galmpton, near Hope Cove and Salcombe - just a 30 minute walk across the fields to the beaches at Hope Cove and the South West Coast Path. Formerly part of the old stables and piggery on the farm, the barn has been lovingly restored and refurbished so there are no signs of the previous equestrian residents (thankfully!) but to retain its charm - plus few luxuries!

The barn has oak flooring, doors and windows throughout which have been both handmade and sourced locally.

On the ground floor, there is an open plan living room and kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and all the kitchen utensils you'll need. It also features a wood burner, for which logs can be ordered ready for your arrival at a small extra cost. There is also a small bathroom downstairs with a WC and hand basin.

Upstairs, there are 2 bedrooms - a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom (featuring a large walk-in shower) and a double bedroom, again with its own en-suite bathroom (featuring a bath and shower). If an extra bed is required, one of the sofas in the living room becomes a double bed, which offers room for a further 2 people. Outside of the barn, there is plenty of parking available as well as an al fresco BBQ area with seating. There is a children's play area at the back of the farmhouse which is situated next to the barn, which all guests are welcome to use as well as having the ability to have a look round the farm as well. Free WiFi is available throughout the property.

The Stables is on a working farm where husband David and son Richard take care of an award-winning pedigree flock.

We’ve over 300 acres in an area of outstanding natural beauty – some of which borders the coast – and provides a great coastal walking and breathtaking views. Walk across the fields to Hope Cove – a small sandy beach with local pubs serving food and drinks to both locals and holiday-makers alike.

1 mile to the village of Malborough with shop, Post Office & pubs
1 mile to the picturesque fishing village of Hope Cove with 2 sandy beaches & pubs
3 miles to the Kingsbridge - Salcombe Estuary

We had a lovely stay at the barn @ Burton Farm. The accommodation had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It is in a peaceful location and there is a lovely walk across the fields to Hope Cove. Highly recommended.

The Stables was perfect for our family's (of 5) short stay in Devon. Located about a mile walk away from the gorgeous Hope Cove and a 15 minute drive from Salcombe, the location was excellent. Upon arrival, we were greeted with cake and tea bags/coffee sachets (although no milk, unfortunately) and shown the way to walk to Hope Cove. The two bedrooms are light and airy and the bathrooms are wonderful - both with great lighting and fabulous showering facilities - there is even a bath! The downstairs toilet also came in handy as one member of the family was staying on the sofa bed. The kitchen has everything you need if you are wishing to cook. The only slight thing I would point out is that, for long stays, I wouldn't recommend having more than 4 people to stay (i.e. do not use the sofa bed as an actual bed/room) as it made the living space seem very crowded and was quite annoying in the evenings when we then either had to put the sofa bed back to use the sofa or, alternatively, only have 1 sofa to sit on for the 5 of us! Other than that, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Great place. The Stables have been very tastefully converted and we loved the decor and overall feel of the place. Brilliant bathrooms and showers. Really can't fault the accommodation. Having a Devon cream tea in the farmhouse is a must and I confess to being quite an expert. Very generous portions of clotted cream and jam and delicious homemade scones with big pots of tea!

A really nice barn retreat and great base for very nearby Hope Cove, Bantham and all. The walk to Hope Cove was really nice and did not take long. Anne and Alex made us very welcome.

Fantastic location, views, and living space. The stables conversion was done very well. Lots of room and storage. Just a short walk through the farmland to hope cove. A short drive to Salcombe for a larger town.
