Our place is close to the city centre and Dickson restaurant precinct - all within 15 minutes drive of our house. Local shops can provide all daily needs. A second couple can be accommodated on the fold out sofa in the living area. You’ll love my place because of the spaciousness. Our place is good for couples, and business travellers. While we live upstairs, you will have privacy and quiet after a busy day as the apartment is located at the back of the house and has its own entrance.
We are located within a 10-minute drive from Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC), 14 minutes from Parliament House, National Library, National Art Gallery, The Portrait Gallery and Questacon.
Other attractions within a similar driving distance are the National Dinosaur Museum, Cockington Green Gardens (a display of miniature buildings and gardens from around the world), Canberra Walk-in Aviary and the National Zoo and Aquarium.
A little further afield (50 minute drive) is the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex that is "one of only three tracking facitlities in the world responsible for providing vital two-way radio contact with dozens of unmanned, robotic spacecraft exploring our Solar System and beyond. In the Visitor Centre, you will discover the story of Australia's role in the past, present and future of space exploration." Close by is the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve that is committed to conserving Australia's endangered species through breeding and maintaining insurance population. It works in conjunction with the Australian National University, Mulligan's Flat and ACT Government. For more information please visit their website - (URL HIDDEN)
The washing machine here is available. However, there is a laundromat quite close by offering self-service or full service by their staff. More details in the House Manual.
The gas Weber Family Q BBQ, on the verandah above the apartment, is available to all guests.
Interaction with guests
When you confirm a booking, I will give you my mobile number and will be happy to assist in any way that I can to make your stay enjoyable and entertaining.
Other things to note
Canberra is renowned for its nature reserves and we a lucky to have the Pinnacles reserve, with pleasant views to the Brindabellas, across the road and five minutes walk from the house. It is a very pleasant area to walk in early on a summer's morning when the kangaroos are grazing and the birds are about. In the winter months, a walk at midday is more pleasant on a sunny day. Other walks a short drive away are the Botanic Gardens and the Black Mountain walk.
Please note, we do not allow unbooked/unregistered guests to stay at the property.
While we do not allow smoking inside, it is OK to smoke outside - please ask me for an ashtray for cigarette butts and empty the ashtray into the garbage bins just outside the side gate.
If you wish to book for an extended stay, please contact me and I will reply promptly.
We are a retired couple - my husband is a homebody who likes to sit and do crosswords while I like to go out, play bridge and socialise. We both like to attend concerts and to read but I also enjoy travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people.
