Our Cottage is close to all the quaint shops and restaurants. You can golf, gamble, ski, ride horses or just relax! You’ll love our place because of the cozy country french cottage ambience. There's a lovely deck on the back to watch the creek meander by and deer stop to take a drink! It's the perfect place to drink a cup of tea/coffee/wine and watch the world go by. During the winter, wrap up in a cozy throw and enjoy the warmth from the fireplace. Great for couples and relaxing getaways.

The space
La Petit Cottage, built in 1940, sits nestled on Cedar Creek, in Paradise Canyon, surrounded by mountains and pines. Romantic, cozy and serene setting. Approximately 700 square feet, decorated in a French country cottage style.

Newly remodeled bath, with a rain shower head, vessel sink, pebble lined shower base, that retains a natural woodland feel.

Our kitchen is fully equipped with staples (like spices, cookware, dish-ware) and we provide our quests with different teas and locally packaged coffee to try while at La Petit Cottage.

There are 2 bedrooms:

The front bedroom (Master bedroom/Red room) comes with a **split mattresses, queen sized temperpedic, adjustable bed**with massage PLEASE NOTE: We’ve had several guests indicate they didn’t enjoy the split queen adjustable bed. We both have bad backs and enjoy adjusting the split queen bed to our individual needs and using the massage really eases sore, tense muscles. But we realize not everyone is comfortable with the offset or split mattresses. We wanted to make you aware of this, before booking, if you’re really picky about your mattress. Some people, like us, really love it! We’re not trying to be ugly or inhospitable, but we’re not changing the bed; it works for us!

This is one of the reasons I ask every potential guest to verify that they’ve read the Description. Use the word "Comfort" in your correspondence and I'll know you've read this and understand-You'll get priority status!

We've added a bed "bridge" that guests can use, that will bridge the gap/off set (Located in the Red Room/Master bedroom closet at the top of the closet). But it will limit your ability to separately operate the individual head and leg adjustments.

There’s a new flat screen tv with HULU access and a white noise machine for those of you who have a hard time falling asleep in a new place.

The back bedroom (blue room) has two twin beds, with blanket warmers, a desk with desktop computer. The stackable washer and dryer is located in this room. Free wi-fi access while at the cottage

One other thing, La Petit Cottage is a fine old lady (about 80 years old), with charm and good bones, but she does lean a little, especially in the bathroom. While we think these little imperfections only add to her appeal, we want to accurately represent La Petit Cottage, so your expectations are realistic. Oh yes, one last thing, the cottage has low ceilings in the bedrooms and bath-so if you’re tall (6 ft or more), you may have to duck your head to avoid whirling ceiling fans!

Where you’ll be

Ruidoso, New Mexico, United States

La Petit Cottage is located on Paradise Canyon Drive which runs along side Cedar Creek on a lovely tree lined valley road, where many of the earlier small cabins are nestled near the creek.

Ruidoso, which means "Noisy Water," is located in the Lincoln National Forest, home of the Smokey Bear Ranger district. Every season brings it's own kind of beauty: Winter--snow, skiing, carriage rides and fireplace weather in a winter wonderland; Spring--brings daffodils and meadows painted in wild flowers; Summer--hiking and picnics in the cool pines, escaping summer's heat in the cities, horse races at Ruidoso Downs if you're feeling lucky; and Fall--vibrant colored foliage, mild weather and cool mountain air!

La Petitte Cottage is close to quaint shops and unique restaurants, but still far enough away for quite retreat.

One of our guests remarked that the cottage was close to the road and road noise might be a problem (more during holidays and local events). While we have grown accustom to it, we wanted to let potential guest know. In addition, there are some dogs that live across the creek at the large log cabin, that do occasionally engage in a bark fest--it can be irritating, but typically it's just warning barks.

While we try to do everything in our power to provide an enjoyable environment for our quests, there are somethings beyond our control! If occasional dog barking or road noise are a big turn off for you, we'd rather you be aware of these potential obstacles before booking with us.

Love travelling and meeting new people! I'm also a travel writer/blogger and travel photographer. My favorite places in the US: Ruidoso, NM, Colorado, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Washington State and Oregon! My spouse and I have travelled to 43 of the 50 States in an RV or camping in a tent--trust me, RVing is MUCH Better! My favorite places in Europe: the Cotswold's in England, Provence and the Amalfi Coast in Italy. When not travelling, I indulge in reading, watercolor painting, antique hunting, gardening and pottery. My style of hosting and being a guest is quiet and laid back--my ideal of the perfect evening is snacking on cheese, crackers and trying out new sweet white wines, although I have been know to indulge in a few sweet reds too! I'm an afternoon tea enthusiast, who loves to share a cuppa with guests (if we were there in person at the Cottage). But since I'm not actually there in person to greet you, feel free to make yourself a cup-or two- of tea from my collection under the bar in the kitchen!
